Post-E3 Farming Information | Posted at 09:28 PM 17 June 2016
E3 is over until next year! There were a lot of games, but not a lot of games that might be considered different from the standard offerings. This year's show had a lot of let's-kill-things type of games, with a spotting of goofy games here and there. This year were a few live bands too, one by the Natsume booth (the Super Soul Brothers) and another at Take-Two's booth for Mafia III. At the Natsume booth they were showcasing Harvest Moon: Skytree Village. If you haven't seen the E3 trailer yet, you can check it out below: The Nintendo 3DS game is still in development, and a short demo of the game was available for attendees. Skytree Village is full of houses with a large fountain in the middle, but the fountain has dried up and no water flows in it. The houses are on several tiers with stairs and bridges here and there. The top exit of the village leads to your farm house area, and the east exit goes out to the wild area where you can control the layout of the land just like in Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. There were also a few crops planted for players to interact with and animal barns that had the new Poitou Donkey in it. There was a baby donkey and an adult donkey that you could sheer to collect fur. Currently Natsume is letting everyone know about six marriage candidates: Bachelors: Bachelorettes: In the game you can control the land like before, but this time you can do it more than one square per hit. Upgrading your tools will increase the area that you can manipulate. With the game still being worked on, the amount of information available was limited (since it could potentially change as the game comes along). The best part is, of course, the return of wacky Doc; unfortunately, he is not a marriage candidate. Returning characters also include Sam, Sally, Naomi, Gareth, Tabitha, Gorgon, Harvest God, Harvest Goddess, and the Harvest Sprites. On the other side of the show floor, XSeed had a late-development version of Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns available for play. The game was mostly in Japanese, with a few things translated into English (such as the save/load menu above). There are a lot of villagers walking around, both faceless and regular. You'll even see them doing things. Miranda can be seen sweeping the front porch of her house in the morning. Even Zahau will use a hand broom to sweep his front steps. As you walk by people, both important and faceless characters, you'll see text dialog pop up similar to a text chat bubble. You can make these text bubbles appear by pressing the left shoulder button too. The latest Weekly Famitsu revealed eight new villagers: Hector and Collin in Westown; Haruba and Tigure in Lulukoko; and Umekichi, Omiya, Moriya, and Samomo in Tsuyukusa. The magazine also revealed that a child will not be available if you marry Inari, the festival judges from the previous Story of Seasons game will return, the pets of StreetPassed players will appear in your game, and a picture show shop will show new scenes as you progress through increasing the Town Ranks (i.e., prestige) for the villages the game. The Trio of Towns Preview Information page has been updated with the bits and pieces that I tweeted about while at the show. The game will be out in Japan in less than a week! After that there'll probably be a swarm of information posted in the SoS:3oT message forum. Until next time! - Cher (The zucchini went bonkers while we were out of town!)
