E3 2018 and LDC Character Update | Posted at 02:04 PM 08 June 2018
Happy Farm'n Friday! Something large decided to dig up one of my planter boxes last night. Normally I would blame it on those pesky tree rats, but the amount of dirt and plants that were disturbed doesn't follow their typical damage pattern. Whatever it was also snapped one of my dahlia sprouts in half. That plant has been pieced back together using plastic plant markers and some hook-and-loop tape (i.e., Velcro for plants). Hopefully it will graft itself back together!

E3: June 12-14

Next week is the popular Electronic Entertainment Expo, more commonly known as E3. This now-open-to-the-public video game gathering is where publishers show off their upcoming games at their super-sized show floor booths. There's a lot of video game fans, industry bigwigs, journalists, media, and a lot of tasty food trucks (nom nom nom) that will take over the LA Convention Center and neighboring locations in downtown Los Angeles for a couple of days. For those who can't attend, the event is also streamed over the internet by various companies and heavily documented by the attending media. In among the shooters, sports, zombie, and other genre games there'll be few video games with a touch of farming flair:

Some farm-like games that WILL be featured at E3 2018

(Official Trailer)
CHKN - This sandbox/block building game will be featured at the IndieCade section of E3, located in West Hall #4100. Build weird poultry-like creatures by yourself or with your friends to collect building resources, build structures, and battle the other weird chicken-like beasties on the open-world island. This game is out now on Steam (PC) if you want to check it out! (Website)
(FS 19 Reveal Trailer)
Farming Simulator 19 - The popular and realistic farming game will be at the Giants Software booth in West Hall #4512. Typically their red barn-style booth is easy to spot along with their large fiberglass black-and-white cow, though maybe they'll have a surprise or two this year. Farming Simulator 19 is tagged as, "farm like never before," adding new vehicles, crops, and animals (such as horses) that players can raise on their mega farms. The game is planned for PC, Ps4, and Xbox One launchs later this year. (Website)
(E3 2017 Trailer)
Ooblets - The game won't be playable on the show floor, but it will be features in the PC Gaming Show that streams on June 11 via Twitch. If you haven't heard of Ooblets, it is a PC/XBox game where you grow little creatures on your farm to befriend and battle against other creatures. Kind of like a farming version of Pokemon, but with the furniture collection and friendship parts of Animal Crossing bundled in. (Website)

Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin - This action game will be playable at XSeed Game's booth this year in West Hall #4700. Playing as harvest goddess Sakuna, players are tasked with banishing evil demons using trusty farm tools. Sakuna is also responsible for growing rice on her little homestead, where she also crafts more tool-weapons and cooks dishes. This game is scheduled to be released for Ps4 and PC, though a release date has not been confirmed yet.

Little Dragons Cafe Updates

Speaking of LDC, some new characters have been revealed on Marvelous' official website for the game in Japan. There's also 100 recipes in the game that players can cook at their cafe. The guests might request specific dishes and reward you with cooking ingredients, which you can then use for more recipes. The greater the reputation of your cafe, the more visitors will appear that have troubles for you to solve. The game also includes weather such as sunny or rainy days, which can impact the number of customers who visit the cafe. Until next time! - Cher (Mmmm... LA food trucks... so tasty...)
