If you've ever visited the Church you'll notice that there is a locked door next to the organ. The only way to get the door unlocked is to become friends with Carter, the priest who runs the Church. If you go to visit the Church on a Wednesday evening in the Fall, you'll notice that no one is around but the door is unlocked. Go through the door and you'll find Carter, who didn't realize he left the door unlocked. Apparently he's fond of the Mushrooms that grow behind the Church and he's been keeping them for himself. If you promise not to tell anyone he'll keep the door unlocked and allow you to go through the Church door to collect Mushrooms. Behind the Church you'll find a Mushroom (70 G), a Poison Mushroom (100 G), and two Truffles (500 G). During the Winter you'll find a piece of White Grass.

You can actually get back past that door without triggering the event, as long as you have a high friendship level with him. The next time you go to the church on a Wednesday, the official event will trigger even though you've been able to get back there for quite a while.
