The Stocking Festival will happen at night and there's no large gathering during the daytime. Go to bed between 9:00pm and midnight on the evening of the 25th. Mayor Thomas will act as "Santa Claus" and sneak in your place to leave a present. He'll only leave a gift if you have socks hanging up on your coathanger. The next morning you can check your stocking and see what you received. The Mayor is pretty cheap so you won't receive anything really exciting. Usually just a Moon Stone, Sand Rose, Orichalc, or a similar gift.
Ellen can knit you some socks if you bring her a ball of yarn.
