Yea, I have found the bear a few times, hidding in there. And yesterday I've found a weed! I was so happy to confirm I could find items there :!:

Thanks for the tip :)

If they mean that huge log in Bluebell Low-Mountain that you can walk through... yep, you can find stuff in there. I actually have found an ore stone in there, but only once. It was winter, in case that matters. In other seasons I find anything from herbs to rocks and branches in there. (and of course the occasional bear ^_^)

And just like the crack behind the waterfall and the LARGE hallow tree log in Blue-Low, this is a main gathering spot for ore stones during bad weather. If you don't check anything else in bad weather, check those three places!

Do you mean we can find items inside that large tree log where sometimes the bear is? Really? I had never thought of that.

Thank you for the information.

You can tell the area you need to hammer in the winter, because the ice on the river will show cracks where it can be broken.

These cracks appear at the ends of all the fishing docks, but you do not necessarily need to stand on the dock in order to break the ice, as long as the hammer hits the cracked area.

But yes, you can fall into the water when you break the ice if you are also standing on the cracked area.

I appreciate the help.

You hammer the spot in the ice you'd like your line to go in. You must walk BEYOND the A spot to get to the edge of the dock, then hammer.

Thank you.

So, I will mostly be hammering the area, that I want and need to stand on, such as the A spot on the deck
or
the area that I want the fishline to go through, such as in Ice fishing.

I appreciate your help.

Yes, fishing is great in winter, you just can't hand fish. To do so, walk to the end of any dock (NOT where the 'A' is visible, beyond that) and smash the ice with your hammer. Don't walk TOO close to the edge of the dock unless you have stamina and wish to fall in (for instance, to find something sparkly in the water!). Then just fish as usual from the 'A' spot on the dock.

That helps a lot.

Thank you.

Out of curiousity, can you fish at all in Winter?
I know that you cannot hand fish in winter.

When I heard about breaking ice with the hammer, what were they talking about exactly. I heard that in reference to gaining boots and old balls for the winter request?

I am still stocking up, so i will have them, when I need them.

I would like to be able to fish in winter though.

Thank you again.

There is no boulder to break for this area.

Just go to Konohana High-Mountain. It looks sorta like this:

Okay, below the red arrow that's pointing at the dock, do you see down at the bottom there where there's that line of trees with open grass below them? That's the area you can only get to in winter. In winter, the river is frozen so you can walk on it to get down to that area.

NOT this, which is Konohana Mid-Mountain:

Hope that helps clear things up a bit...

right Tracey, I'll try to describe it to you, in kono mid mountain, go down the slide and on the left hand side of the screen there should be a river?

near the top of that river is a rock sticking out of the water, if you race the river you can jump on the stone and then jump again continuing your little journey to the left, you should find you're now on the over side of the river! Go south and then you should see a fallen tree and a couple more rocks poking out of the water

I have not did any work on the tunnel, but I am not finding a slide yet in the mid mountain area.
I do see a slid and rock in the high section.

I might possibly see a slide in the winter though. Where is it at?

Yes, the spot you're thinking of with the downed tree log (not stump) across the river is correct. It's Kono-High (not mid). And yes, after 2 in-game years of playing I have only found stones of one type or another (silver, copper, ore, scrap). Be quite sure to check the lower treeline, as some stones cannot be seen. And just like the crack behind the waterfall and the LARGE hallow tree log in Blue-Low, this is a main gathering spot for ore stones during bad weather. If you don't check anything else in bad weather, check those three places!

I have hit the area at the bottom of the screen with the hammer, and it pushes me back. How can I break that rock or boulder, so I can gain access to that area? I assume that it is a different area than the other one in question. Do I require a bear to break that boulder for me?

Thank you both.

Yep, that's Kono-High. Kono-Mid is the waterfall screen, with the bridge.

And I've tested trying to get to that Kono-High spot in other seasons, but no luck - I always fall in the river, even with the extra wind from a summer typhoon pushing me. So yep, you can only get to that area in winter. It's mentioned in my ore stone guide as a good spot for finding those stones (and copper, and scrap, etc.)
