Well their defaults are callbacks, but I doubt many people are going to use the defaults now that we finally have character customization. It's weird, I was expecting Pokemon to have customizeable player characters before Harvest Moon ever would.

I gotta say now, after seeing a video of the customizing, I'm quite boosted about it. It's a really good idea IMHO.

When I first saw the girl I thought it was a grown up version of Claire from MFOMT

The only handheld HM game I've played is Island of Happiness, so I have no problem with them using old designs.
Plus, they're hot. ;D Anyways, I'll be changing the girl's hair color anyway. Mostly likely to black or red. And I think her outfit actually suits her. The guy? Iunno, I might keep him like that.

I kind of like the designs, but I don't think it matters too much if the characters are customizable anyway. I'd imagine it's for that reason that they look like the old MC's.
