Funny thing..in Japan, girl are so out of their mind. They can't make up their mind on what they want. They want a good looking man who makes a LOT of money, no signs of otaku-ness, and 'likeable' hobbies. They also feel that « Chicken Hugging » is too much work,(and yet some expect it..there are a LOT of things on this and it makes no sense-_-) and they don't want kids cause they also find them to be too much work..They have so many double-standards too. Its kinda no wonder the games have been failing a bit in that regard..when you really think about it..

Honestly the worst part about all this is that the game isn't even out yet. It's one thing if you don't like the direction of TToTT or Grand Bazaar or Animal Parade but stop accusing this game of something it hasn't even done yet.

Also, aside from the whole customization thing, the overall impression I got from this game was that it WAS a "return to its roots" (or its 'Land of Beginning', if you will :shifty: ) kind of thing. Was that just me...?

And on a final note, everyone go buy a PSP and play HoLV :D It's honestly the perfect blend of new material + old HM simplicity/traditions.

Actually, I really like ToTT and GB...and I haven't accused this game of anything..just saying what I've seen a lot of the new games doing.

I also like this, I'm enjoying that they're giving us some power and such over the game, and now I don't HAVE to be a blond! :D And I really do hope that is so, and they go back to the old ways, or they're goin gto get a nasty email about the name not giving us what we want.>83

I have that..I found having SO many endings and such confusing...the save style made it hard, and if it rains while I have seeds put down, they get washed away! As much as I loved it,(I even named him 'Link' cause the same reminds me of LoZ XP) I found it too complicated@.e

I think the reason why a lot of fans want more character interactions and romance (much like myself) is because we don't see that often in games that are translated or games made outside of Japan.

Japan has tons of dating sims for both men and women. Next to none of these (save for hentai games for the PC) get translated and brought over. I'd LOVE to have some more be released in the US. I was hoping when Princess Debut got released, it may inspire more to be translated by that never happened, sadly.

This is one of the few games that has this kind of thing in the English language. I'll admit that I do like the farming bits too and that they should pay attention, but I'm one of those who is happy when there is more depth to the marriage and romance.

I can't help but wonder what the fans in Japan focus on more....the farming or marriage?

That's a good question..For me, all I like is the romance and farming.(I tend to do nothing but work on my farm, and only talk to the person I'm going to marry, or shop owners. I really don't do much else..) Now, dating sims for the most part..ARE hentai, or at least Ecchi so yea, they don't get brought over unless you get them of the net's black market.
But really, its always been one of the main parts to HM. Farming and chara stories. Now they've added story and now cause of that, they're having problems. They can't seem to juggle farming, story AND chara development all in one, and people keep getting upset. I think if they just drop the 'story' and go back to the way things were, when we all fell for HM, things would be a lot better. I mean, if I want a farming game with lots of story, I'll play Rune factory!-_-

I have mixed feelings about this game too.

While I like the female protagonist and the bachelorettes, the males look horribly stereotypical and mediocre. Claire 2.0 looks nice but the boy barely looks like a HM protagonist.

Everything's too bubbly, fluffy, and shojo for my liking. It doesn't feel like HM to me.

I'm not looking forward to dating in this game, which is a bummer because I buy HM for the social interactions. But at least we have farming.

Me too<:C My whole goal in HM is to get my farm up and running, and get married..but this is something HM has had problems with for a while now.
Even as far back as FoMT they had this problem. May was there stereotypical soft-spoken little girl, Stu was the stereotypical boy who loved bugs and upsetting his big sis, And each of the girls(and really all of the charas) had a stereotypical personality for whatever their role was. Its sad really..I mean, you can see it most with the kids. The only kids they've ever had are ether the S.T boy, who love bugs/sports/ext, the S.T girl who is ether a real brat and entitled, or a very soft spoken and sweet little angel.(Oh, and the boy ALWAYS has a crush on the girl. I get the reason, but still-_-) I mean, look at the twins in GB! One was a bit of a brat, and the other was soft-spoken. Yes, twins are very different, even looking alike, but I have yet to see twins who didn't have something in common like, both enjoy sports, or music, or something! The only thing these girls both liked were flowers. And one one liked, the other hated(or something like that) It really makes the game sad when the charas are so stereotypical and so..stuck on their role they can't seem to like anything else. Its like whatever they're doing, its all their life is, so this is nothing new. It just looks like they took it even farther this time though...

I don't care, I just want the game to be interesting.

lol that's what I meant when I said they just can't win. I think as long as they make the chara's interesting, like they did in FoMT/AWL(well, I still they the boys were a flop) but keep it on farming, we'd be happy. I think that's why FoMT is so loved. It had just the right balance of both. Good charas,(even chara death) and mostly on farming. I really wish they'd make the new games more like that one.(and I really miss the graphics of that gen TT~TT)

To me, the things I love most in an HM game are simplicity,(LOVED that about FoMT and while DS/SS was a bit harder, I loved that one too. I love simplicity above all else in HM games) marriage,(sorry, I'm a hopeless romantic so I want wuv~and I just enjoy the only 'challenge' I ever set for myself in marrying someone) actual farming being the main plot,(this I miss. I don't want to 'save the town' unless its like STH but in that one, it WAS about farming..well, saving the homeland. I enjoyed FoMT the most cause what you had to do was farm. That's it, and it was very relaxing. Now, yes it was a bit repetitive, but they all kinda are, and when they try to add something, it uber fails and we all get upset-_- they just can't win.) I also enjoyed the custom farm in MM, but there was so much in MM that just...little stuff that by the time I got to like, spring 7ish, I was sick of it or confused, or something that I can never remember and I'd end up starting a new file, only to be reminded of what it is I don't like, but can never remember just what-_-U

I think, in this one at least, as long as they don't add some HUGE plot twist and make us do something stupid, or just make the charas LAME(like the boys in AWL/AWLFG) then I will, for the most part be happy. I think the only thing that will really bug me is the graphics, but those have upset me since they changed it from the FoMT/DS to what we have now, so unless they go back, I just ain't gonna be happy and will have to deal like I have for years now=w=

I just don't know anymore. I mean I love Harvest Moon, but I play the ones like GB and SNES or even AWL and they just seem like it's really in depth.
Not saying I don't like the recent games, in fact when I got IoH it was a BLAST, but some things we can do without. Like custom made characters and farms.

I don't understand why some people want an HM64 remake with a girl route while complaining about the recent characters. You know the CURRENT team would have to basically write entire scripts for the bachelors, right? Chances are they wouldn't make it 100% true to the original so people would be « Baaaa *glomp* » to the high heavens if they did decide to remake it, anyway.

There's other fun stuff to do in these games you guys, it's not just about marrying bishies. Maybe fans wouldn't be disappointed 24/7 if they stopped focusing on one area of gameplay that Marvelous (as developer) has never given a « Puppy Doodoo » about putting thought into.

And... THIS.

I'm don't give a « Puppy Doodoo » about marriage in HM. It's not what's important. Give me an HM game with more depth in actual FARMING because it is a FARMING game, and I shall be very happy. :)

And as said before, Marvelous shouldn't put so much effort into something like romance. Once it's over and done with and you've seen all of those events, you're DONE. I'm pretty sure farming is the main point in this anyways. They should work on actual activities and festivals more. These festivals are slowly getting more and more pointless. ;~;

And if I got a game similar to MM in the customization, I WOULD BE SO OVERJOYED. I loved how much you could put into your farm and house in that game. It gave me a reason to actually make money. (And mining in that game was a lot of fun. And frustration.)

Besides, all your spouse does is stay home most of the time and talk about how awesome you are. xD I'm glad you don't have to get married in some of the HM games.

I don't know what's with the new harvest moon title recently, it just seems like they keep taking stuff out of every new title. I mean tale of 2 town have no rival marriage or rival (the village seems dead now), sunshine island have no random villagers event (NPC have no interaction with each other =.=). In TOT, you can't pick up animals (what is that game thinking?), new titles, NPC have boring personality (they're always friendly and kind), no character development (BTN n 64, when you become friends with character they reveal their secret and all, such as Gotz revealing about he cares for Karen and all, now all you get is a friendlier message), to focus on story (lately, I find it really difficult to marry and earn high profit in the game, because the of the stories, but that may be a good thing), festival isn't as interactive (BTN: Chicken sumo, tomato, horse racing, etc), Harvest Goddest is anything but secret now (back then I would be really surprised when i found the harvest goddest, because she was like a secret character, now she keeps appearing as important main character, which doesn't make it special) and no secret character NPC (BTN & 64 Kappa and Goddess)

Looking back at 64 and BTN, they're really good game, I thought harvest moon title should build upon it, but for some reason they keep taking stuff out. They took away any dark element and turn it really flowery, Ellen dying, Karen's abusive father issue and Gotz family death (BTN) are small dark elements from HArvest Moon, but because of that, it made the game and characters so memorable. In these new title what does the character have that make us remember them, besides the art style.

Marvelous didn't even MAKE BTN OR Hm64 though... lol. They did make the watered down Fomt though, but that proved to be popular anyway. Also I'd like to point out not all the characters in ToT were fluffy or anything, can't remember his name but there was a really rude fellow at the souffle farm. xD
