A magical herb, huh? Hate to break it to you Lillia but your husband is never coming back. There are ehundreds of theories of whether Lillia is truly sick or not, but I can't believe that she is. It's too ironic. That's my opinion anywho.

Gotz's family was mass-murdered by Lillia's husband. 'Nuff said.

i always assumed either a rockslide or avalanche for gotz's family for some reason. something fell on top of them that shouldn't have. it was during a blizzard, so they could have died of exposure, as well, but i always assumed something more sudden than that.

if ann remembers her mother at all, she probably didn't die in childbirth, just when ann was very young. in actual terms, it was probably an illness of some type that killed her. in conspiracy theory terms... maybe whatever is in the water that makes it so people don't age didn't work on her? or there was some sort of problem in turning her into a replicant, so they had to scrap her and just called it an illness?

rod is -totally- off with hula girls somewhere, sipping drinks out of coconuts. there's no way it's anything else.

I'd go for the died at birth theory too, but as far as the reasoning goes, the logic is off. The Netherlands is a modern country, and there home-births (with a midwife) are very popular and the births at home have proven to be as safe as hospital births with normal pregnancies. If you have let's say triplets or know that your baby will be born prematurely due to some condition, home-birth is not an option. Also hospitals are on stand-by in case something goes wrong with the home-birth.

In most countries where hospital births are the norm, there has been research to suggest that a home-like environment is the best environment to have a baby. Over-medicalizing is not good. Modern medicine and technology is good if something goes wrong, but pregnancy and giving birth are a natural function of the female body and the body is able to handle those without medical intervention (in normal cases). Giving birth is not an illness. I could go on and on about this, but the place for it is not a HM discussion forum.

Gotz seems like a tragic guy, and I've always gotten the vibe that his wife was pregnant with their firstborn when she died due to some horrible accident.

And Finally someone else who agrees that Lillia's husband just ran away and is spending his days burying his head in the chest region of some tropical hula hula dancers. Finding a cure, yeah right! Many have these rose-colored glasses on and see him as this noble guy who is willing to do anything for Lillia. Excuse me while I go vomit.

I kind of wondered why many characters say that their family died of "illness"
while you don't get sick in the game (but in Animal Parade you get sick in one event)

I believe that the husband (of Lillia) is NOT finding a cure for Lillia, he went off and had another family.
He doesn't come back in the game.. there was also an event that Rick was annoyed because he's father does not send any form of communication to his family. there was an event though, that he had sent a letter to them, Although that was only one event, plus why would you send only ONE letter? When you can send multiple letters to your family.

While Gotz's family died in the mountains because of some accident (according to Gotz), I think it was an avalanche.

And then Ann's mother.... Ann said that she does not remember her mother that much, maybe her mother died during childbirth? Because in many countrysides, They don't have hospitals nearby, so they give birth with the help of a midwife.
I read in a medical book that when you give normal birth you have a 50% chance of living especially when your heath is low, But it also says that because modern technology, you have less chance of dying during child bearing.

Ah, well I think Ann's mothers death was an accident.

I'm guessing Ann goes up on mothers hill (the huge cliff) for her mothers death anniversarys' because that's where her mother died, and she witnessed it. She was probably out with her mother and that was her favorite spot. Suddenly Ann's mom maybe tripped or fell over the edge and Ann felt horrified. She felt guilty because in some way she thinks her mothers death is her fault and that she could've saved her mother. So in honor of her mother she has her mothers death anniversary.

THE END. :)

(EDIT: Stupidly didn't read the topic title -_- )

I believe Lillia's illness is mostly in her head. Her goodfornothing husband just planted the idea in her head, and then went off to *airquote* find a cure. Yes, I'm sure the cure is found under a palm tree in the bosom of some Tahitian hula hula dancer.
