I like p3 more because I like the atmosphere better. It seemed like something was actually at stake. It's not just "solve the mystery!" [even though I love both games]. People die. People are prickly to you at first. Things don't turn out perfectly fine. Mostly everyone comes from a dark background. There are fights in your group. The really dark tone makes it seem more like a Megaten game.

UGH YES
THIS
I adore the games to bits but Persona 3 and 4 seem to overshadow pretty much every other game in the series
I mean if they didn't want to make it a general SMT game in general then ok
but why no P1 or P2 characters??? (I guess you can argue the ending of P2 doesn't exactly leave too much to cooperate with the storyline of P4U, but P4U is obviously more for fans rather than anything else imo so)
AND I WANTED TO BEAT UP MY LEAST FAVORITE CHARACTERS WITH JUN'S FLOWER POWER

Anyhoo, I think the remakes are nice! with P2 and Soul Hackers, it'll definitely introduce fans to the rest of the SMT series. And I know P3P introduced new fans, so that was good. Hopefully P4G will do so as well. But any remakes of Persona 3 or 4 afterwards would be far too excessive imo.

I really would prefer new games rather than remakes, though.

If Atlus could talk Irem into remaking Steambot Chronicles for download on PSN and work in widescreen/higher resolution, then the name Atlus would be great to me once more. An entire generation of PS2 gamers missed out on Steambot Chronicles one of my absolute favorite games ever on the PS2! Atlus released it.

I dunno if I'd call it an excess. I mean, if they did P3 yet again with the fem protagonist and restoring all the original style of graphics etc. I'd... probably buy it... (though I personally liked how easy it was to maneuver around in P3P even though others called it a downgrade) ...it was a little disappointing to find out P4's remake is really just a port with bonus features and no alternate protagonist route-- it was awesome how it changed so much stuff in P3, and fixed some of the stuff I didn't like (way better social links overall).

But if they really are working on P5 right now, maybe they didn't want to put in the extra time it would take to rework all that dialogue and the social links, and just add in bonus features instead. Priorities. It's prolly just to tide fans over until the new game comes out.

Anyway, since they apparently started working on P5 last year... maybe later this year we'll hear some kind of update on its development. Hopefully it will be worth all this waiting.

P3 was just so beautiful to me. It's probably the only game that could make me laugh out loud and sob with emotion. P4 just seemed so...shallow in comparison. And it was even easier if that's possible.XD
But I don't really want this to turn into a P3 vs P4 topic. Thoughts on the excess of remakes?:D

I really like Persona 4 more then Persona 3
Persona 3 would have made a better anime though but Persona 4 is better when it comes to the ending, even Atlus had to say it was bad. that's why they made Persona 3FES.

if ANYTHING Persona 4 had a lesson in it that every should learn and know, being your own person. Which NO ONE today seems to be able to get through their head -_-* at least where I live.
To me that's why Persona 4 was better in my opinion, the characters are also a bit more lovable (like Kanji~ ) and better voice acting. also better at the whole Dungeon thing than Persona 3

Both P3 and 4 remind you of the bonds of people and friendship can have an effect in your life.
but to me if you really think about it and look into everything Persona 4 is a bit of a better game.
I didn't like how Persona 3 had so much death in it.
Spoiler:
and actually have someone you can use in your part permanently die. Cause then you just wasted time leveling him up and having to get whatever other character you had closer to your level.

I love Devil Survivor 1 and 2 so much, but I'm not bothering with the Overclocked remake. The full voice acting is scaring me a little, despite my interest in the added epilogues. Plus, I burned myself out a little rushing to finish some of the endings on the original one before starting 2. xD

I love Persona 3 and all it's remakes. P3P is probably my favorite overall, but I still enjoy the other two a lot. I do agree Persona 4 isn't as good, but I am STOKED for the Arena fighting game coming out. I'll probably get P4:The Golden just to see the changes *curious*, but I'm not going be rushing out to get it.
I'm still waiting for the second half of Persona 2 to be remade though. >_> And a Digital Devil Saga remake would be pretty sweet, but I don't see that happening.

I don't see Persona 5 being out anytime soon. Maybe 2 years at the least. I'm more looking forward to Etrian Odyssey 4, but I'm happy they do work on new things and remake the old.

/loves Atlus to death
/has nothing bad to ever say about them
/bopped in the head

I also wish they would stop paying so much attention to P4. It's my least favorite Persona game and I don't see what all the fuss is about.

I also like that they're remaking all of them, although I really wish they weren't all for PSP... I'm playing the PSN port of P3FES right now and it's AMAZING. I'm so excited and happy to have found this game series.

P4: Arena is already out for arcade in Japan, and it's coming out in August for PS3 and 360. So they've been working on that. They're also working on P5, but said that it will take quite a while.

One thing to keep in mind is that porting games to new platforms takes MUCH less time than creating an entirely new game from the ground up -- because the games are so wildly popular and because people can't get ahold of them easily, I think that the remakes are probably smart financial decisions for Atlus. At the very least, be happy that they're making money on the ports so that they can keep making more games! :)

I don't mind it really.
Cause I can't find the older games so them remaking it makes it easier for me to get the game and play it.
Like right now I'm having a hard time finding SMT: Nocturne.
I like Devil Survivor Overclocked and I'm going to get the second.

I know they're making P4Arena and I hear that they're working on P5 supposedly.
If there really is a P5 coming out they should be focusing on that then. Only if that is their game to focus on.

Doesn't it seem like they're going overboard with the remakes recently? They remade P3 twice, they're porting P3Fes to PSN, they're remaking P4, they're remaking Soul Hackers, they remade Devil Survivor, they're remaking both P2s...Not that I can really complain. I missed most of those the first time around. But I do wish they would make more new games. I still haven't gotten around to opening my copy Devil Survivor 2 since I vowed I would finish all the remakes first. I'm very nearly there now.XD
Thoughts?
