Some of the items I need to make ask for fur. How do I get it? Not anywhere in the guide that I see.

Sorry, the first RF. Squirrels drop "Skin", not fur. When they ask for fur, do they mean skin? The photo doesn't look the same.

Are they supposed to be white fluffy cottonball-like stuff?

In that case it's probably a Woolly Furball -- you get it from Woollies (sheep-type monsters). They may be found in Toros. Alternatively, it could be a S. Fur/M. Fur/L. Fur instead, in which case you have to tame a woolly and shear its wool to get the 'fur'
