For this metaphor, lets compare Harvest Moon to a disease. For my brother, it was more like a virus. It was a big deal at first, but then it went away. For me, HM is like chronic cancer. I will be a fan for the rest of my life, and will take the games with me to my grave. HM is a huge deal to me, though I don't know why :33 @Clove: That was some pretty empowering stuff there. I'm sure that you've made somebody out there a lot more comfortable in their own skin! But yeah, there's no reason to hate on yourself. And even if you do, Ushi'll be there for you. We're the worlds most screwed up people, we don't know how to judge others XD

I've been waiting for so long to say that quote! I've had it in my head since I first joined, and I just had to let it out. But Leia, I think we're spamming now, so we should probably vacate the premises.

That's a beautiful analogy right there. As for me... this happened in a non-Harvest Moon game and a Harvest Moon game. When I was younger, I went on a trip to San Diego with my family, and was obsessed with MFoMT. I had just gotten my character married to Cliff, and upon returning home from the trip, my family went out to dinner with some of our friends. Upon describing the trip, I added, "And I got married to Cliff-", mostly because I was so happy to achieve that... Cue everybody laughing at me. The non-Harvest Moon game was M&L:BIS. When I got it for my 13th Birthday, my cousin was hovering over me, and when I got a really sweet moment early in the game, I made an "awwww" sound, but I remembered that my cousin would make fun of me. So I tried to stop my vocal cords from making the noise, and it came out as a mechanical choking sound. Ruined the moment.

Gah you guys love Harvest Moon XP I really like the games, too. I'm hoping to get into the franchise a bit more now.
My father is a nerd, so he liked to buy my lots of games and animes I may have liked when I was younger (oh, father, you should have read Neon Genesis Evangelion a bit better before giving it it me at age 10). He got me A Wonderful Life around the time it came out, and I HATED it. I stuffed it away on the shelf to collect dust. I did like the Rune Factory 2 game he got me, but I got bored of it rather quickly. I'm a hardcore-make-your-eyes-water Pokemon fan, er, I mean, a Pokemon MASTER, not a farmer ._."
Then, amusingly enough, last summer before I left for college, my boyfriend was browsing my game collection and noticed that I had AWL as well. They aren't his forte, but he made me sit down and play it. I actually quite liked it once I discovered I could eat weeds =D (I hate the cooking mechanism in that game though ^^"). So, when ToTT came out, and they had it for sale at $20 at my GameStop, I bought it. I think I'm mature enough now to have a longer attention span is what it is.

Trust me it is a royal pain in the a$$ to try and play ANY DS game when there's a toddler in your lap slapping at the screen.

Zombiebutterflies wrote: My mom,great-aunt, and I go out to dinner a lot this is what happened: Was celebrating my first anniversary with Mikhail when my great-aunt(76) came up behind me and read what was on the screen:
Aunt:Thats cute what that girl said. Me: xD!!!! He a guy. Mom: Thats her husband. Aunt: Looks female to me. Me: Dying of laughter over the HM dinner conversation.
Poor Mikhail... hahahahaha "looks female to me" XD made my day I dont ever really tell anyone about the things that I play/watch cause my family wouldn't understand ._. I made the mistake of telling my parents that I liked anime the other day and my mum says "huh? What's an-eye-may? Is that the weird japanese cartoon?" I was like mum, that is NOT how you pronounce it. Then my dad pipes up and says "can I see it?" I was like heck no! XD I mean, InuYasha's ok...but Ouran High School host club? >_< Awkward that would be (great, now I'm talking like yoda) Anyway, an awkward HM moment for me would be the other day. The other day we were in the car on the way to the beach (about a 45 min car ride) and I was happily playing ToTT. My brother appears over my shoulder and askes "why is that weird looking guy asking you out?" I slammed the screen shut and told him to shut up and that Cam was NOT weird looking. My mum looked at me, but luckily said nothing. Later I was talking to my dad about how much money I needed for my house reno (I left out the part that I was doing it cause I wanted a kid) and he sat there nodding and smiling while I explained about the flour into toast trick that I was using to get money. I thought he'd taken it all in, but then he said "I thought you couldn't cook food in animal crossing" *face palm* Wrong game dad........ As far as romantic moments go, I always make sure I'm alone in my room when I get married But that's the reason why I dont have the wii games. My wii's in the living room....and that wouldn't go down well XD

This is like a confession thread lol. I have to say that I miss Calvin from ap - I liked the indiana jones type of guy that he was, and why do all the men in 'a new beginning' look like they're dressed in bedsheets and sandals? Sorry lol
Bring Calvin back I say!

So i was playing Hm and i was getting the reverse proposal from hiro,
And he said something sweet so i squealed and got my phone and took a picture xD
well my phone made a noise (when it takes pictures) and my cousin was like "why are you taking pictures of your ds?" Me: "oh nothing" then my cousin snatched my ds from my hands and started making fun of me -____- my aunt walked in the room but luckily my cousin was nice enough and never spoke of it again...

Haha. My mom is a computer-game-hater, and limits my playing for like 30 minutes a day. That doesn't stop me, though. I play DS under the covers and lock my door with some weird excuse like "the cat got dirty today, I can't let her in my room." (we wash the cat every week, but my mom took the excuse anyway) My dad is a huge video game fan. He plays all sorts of mature-rated games at night. He never bothers to catch me anyway. And my little brother is an extreme Pokémon addict. Enough said. So, I was playing ToT a few years ago when my little brother walked in. Naturally that was when I was activating the proposal, so he went all "eww" and "disgusting." He went to tell my mom, who couldn't find anything wrong with the game but then thought I was violating my 30-minute restriction (but I wasn't) and banned me for a week. Then I got AP. And naturally my brother has to come in during the adorable wedding scene. I had to shut off the TV and wait until he left the room, then re-load to see it. *sigh* I need to get a lock on our TV room door.
