Ushi No Tane - Harvest Moon

I've noticed that for certain things (beds, tool upgrades, fishing rods, etc.) you must have a certain number(s) of items.

Is there a list of that anywhere? This way I could keep track. I know Cher hasn't really updated her website with all of this information (bless her hardworking soul).

I remember vaguely that you need to collect a certain amount of ore stones and a variety of gems, as well as 10 old balls, 10 boots, and 10 snowballs. What do we need for the other upgrades/stuff?

Your help is much appreciated.

Quest Name/Detail: Required Items

A New Bed: Ore Stone X2 30000G
Triple Bed: Ore Stone X5, Money

Nori's New Clothes Quests- This has 3 Quests and complete each will get you new a new set of clothes.
1) Wool X2 10000G
2) Wool X2 30000G
3) Good Wool X2 600000G

Animal Tools (Stethoscope): Milk X5, Egg X5, 1500 G
Animal Tools (Bell): Milk X5, Wool X5 1500G (All the items has to be 1 star or more)

Howard's/Yun's Kitchen Utensils (Frying Pan): 1 Boiled Egg (half-star) (Konahana) OR 1 Hot Milk (half-star) (Bluebell), Money
Howard's/Yun's Kitchen Utensils (Spice Rack): 1 Fried Egg (half-star), Money
Who posts the requests for your kitchen utensils will depend on which town you live in, so Howard (Bluebell) or Yun (Konohana) will post the requests. The Pot is automatically given to you by either Howard or Yun. There is no request to complete for the Pot.

Tunnel Expansions: Branches (Lumbers), Rocks (Material Stones), and money

Hammer: 6 Stones, Money
Axe: 10 Branches, 8000G

P.S. Some of these requests you need to raise friendship with the NPC in order to get the request like Nori, Rutger, and Sheng. Eileen and Ash gave theirs pretty randomly (from my experiences so far)

10 snowballs for the snowboard
10 old balls for the skateboard
3x 20 scrap metal (total of 60) for the lvl5 tool upgrades
3x 5 ore stones (total of 15) for the 3 'new' tools
1x diamond, 1x moonstone, 1x amethyst 2.5 stars (although wiki only says 2) or higher for the 'new' tools
3 mithril, one for each tool
3 adamantite, one for each tool

Rahi later has a request for a ruby (although not a required request to complete).

Also, 1 Stone Tablet and 1 Mythic Ore if you want Oracle's carts. Here is the location of ores:

For requests with the word "money" in them, I don't know how much it costs specifically.

I would love to know of a complete list as well. It'd be really helpful to know! I wish I could remember what all I needed for some of the things I've gotten. I remember you need 5 milk and 5 eggs plus some gold for the stethoscope, and a fried egg and some gold for the spice rack.

that's what i can think of off the top of my head, although rahi later has a request for a ruby (although not a required request to complete)

2 ore stones for the big bed (once you get this request, you won't get a farm exp. /tunnel request that season :S).
5 milk + 5 wool for the Bell to herd your animals (wish I had known that before training my pets like crazy).
And apparently you need +2 star rocks and lumber to build the bigger house (only found +2 rocks/wood from year 2 on).

I recommend getting 3 mithril and 3 adamantite from the cooking contests before you complete the tunnel. I only have 1 adamantite and now I will need to wait until the mine is built to get two more for the tool upgrades.

Wait, does that mean I have to actually befriend the Bimbo---erm... H.G?

The H.G.'s requests are mediocre at best and the only gems available from her are moonstones (which aren't that rare in the mine) and diamonds (which you can get in both the mine and from cooking contests), as well as pink diamonds (which are just to sell or give as gifts). imo, she's not worth the time, especially after she constantly stalks you telling you when you did something numerous times -_-

From what I heard, you need to be at request level 10 to get requests from her. And as Origon said, you don't need her requests, just go mining for the moonstone and win a cooking festival for the diamond.

For the rank of the gems you need - it depends on when you get them. I assume it goes up every year.

For me, as an example, I've been upgrading my watering can (no other tool) all along. After I got the level 5 upgrade (that required 20 1.5-star scrap metal) in Fall Year 2, then in Winter Year 2 I got the "super watering can" request that needed an amethyst, and he only required a 1.5-star amethyst as well. (Note that you don't actually GET a better watering can from that particular request, it just allows Sheng's skill to increase so that he can continue upgrading the watering can later. Kinda a bummer.)

I smashed an ore stone I had and got a 2-star amethyst (reloaded a lot...)

So going off of that...maybe if you get the requests in Year 2, they need 1.5-star stuff, in Year 3 they need 2-star stuff, in Year 4 2.5-star stuff, and so on...

I'll find out when I hit Year 3 Spring, I guess...

Also, I've gotten all of those gems/stones on Origon's/Lucaspontes's lists (except for the mythic ore, so far) just from smashing ore stones. I do not have the mine open - far from it. ^_^ I just needed to reload a lot to get the one I needed. I've even got a 1.5-star stone tablet sitting in my storage now... So you don't necessarily have to wait for the mine to open in order to get what you need.

what are those 'New' tools? are they upgrades or are they actually new?

After you get a tool (or tools) up to level 5 (through that 20-scrap-metal upgrade) Sheng can't upgrade it any further until you go through those "new" tools requests that require 5 ore stones and a gem.

These "new" tool requests don't actually get you a new tool - they just allow Sheng to "power up" so he can now upgrade that tool to level 6 and 7. And level 6, at least (I haven't gotten level 7 yet) still looks exactly the same. You never get a completely new tool, and your tool never changes in appearance with higher levels. Not that I've seen yet anyway.

I want to make a correction, for the frying pan request that you get from Howard you don't need a boiled egg, but hot milk. That's what he asked me, and I'm pretty sure of that since this save file is pretty new.
Other than that, for the stethoscope, the money you need is also 1500g. I also did that quest not long ago, so it is fresh on my mind.

EDIT: by the way, I still have to make the tunnel expansions on my second save, would you like me to take note of how many lumber/stone/money you need?
