Um, you know the spot that is said to only be used in winter by the fishing docks by the waterfall river? You can access the spot if you go down all the way on the screen. There will be 2 rocks. If you jump across the rocks, you can reach this spot.

You seem to be thinking of the spot in the konohana midmountain map.
Blue Trillium was talking about a spot in the konohana high mountain map, which doesn't have the waterfall. The river has to be frozen for you to walk all the way down to the bottom of the screen.

You can see the maps here: http://www.fogu.com/hm10/activities/fishing.php. The correct spot is on the middle map, on the left side, underneath all the trees.

I keep trying to do trick jumps to get down there, but so far I just waste my stamina falling in the water :shifty:

I hate to further post if it's not allowed, but I was under the impression that it was OK to post in 'stickied' topics, even if the last post was more than 10 days old? Given that the 10 day rule says:

I don't see how posting in a topic already pinned to the top of the board would revive the thread and confuse people?

It was never disallowed. Just some people tend do the forum-police thing when it's not necessary. This thread was not for discussion but a help guide and useful information for us. Thread necro rules don't apply to threads like this.

So I've used this guide and had some excellent 5-star gems pounded out of ore stones. Every gem except amethyst and diamond. Anyone ever find those gems that Sheng wants from ore stones? Or do I have to wait for my mine to open (in a few years)?

I got a diamond by pure random chance. I got an amethyst by smashing an ore stone and resetting (on a cooking festival day) until I finally got what I wanted - probably 15-20 tries. So, yes - you CAN find them in the ore stones.
