From what I have seen, yes. Only your partner and if you play as a girl and marry your game will end. You can have two kids though.

Well...having two kids is a nice bonus...so do you get to name your partner or do they come with an automatic default name that you can't change like it was in IoH?

You get to choose both your name and your partners, the default is shown for your partner automatically but you can just delete the name and make it whatever you want. You can also customize the character's colors but it also affects the rest of the game so the default may be preferred.

Well, let just say, the simple version of 'costumize your hair color and appearance' thing
You can change both characters hair and bandana color, but it affects not only you

Townspeople's color can be also affected by what color you've chosen for your character
Like certain character will wear diff color of clothing if you change your bandana's default color

It even changes your horses tail color. My hat/pants are green, so my horses tail is green too.
