What events made you pick your spouse?

As the title says, what made you fall for your spouses? When I meet Toby, at first I didn't care for him, but the first time I saw his green eyes, I went awwwww, and just fell for him like that.

i kinda pick my spouses out of a hat, to be honest...

i mean, in a game where i care, like 64, all the characters are interesting enough to have as a wife
in a game where i don't really care, i don't really care and go for the least offensive one. heck, i've considered marrying popsie in FoMT before entirely because she is the only one with some semblance of personality (though not a good one, haha). i think i might go for the goddess, though, just to say i did it, even if it is a lot of grinding.

i do tend to have faves, though... honestly? i think that ellen's death in 64 made me like elli a little more than the other girls. even though karen is my fave character in that game, i don't think i like her as a wife so much, but she's interesting in and of herself.

I tend to pick before I play, which I've found makes for an unhappy marriage. Now, I try not to decide in advance, and just go based on who I like the most (I always woo everyone to full love before marriage). That said, I do sometimes pick based on the look or personality of the child, and I have a few favorites who I don't think I could ever put down (Popuri, Muffy, and Dia/Gina).

I pay attention on personality. This is the most important part of every bachelor/ette. If their personality is interesting and original, then they have big changes for winning my heart. The dialogues should intrigue me and make me to feel excited.

Not going to lie, I look at all the ones available and narrow down to the couple that I like. Then I play the game and see what their dialogue is like, raise a couple of their hearts, and then go from there. So essentially I start off doing it by a superficial process of elimination, but then I focus in on one after I start playing the game first-hand

It's a love at first sight thing for me. Like, on Magical Melody when I walked into the Library and saw Maria standing there I was like "This is it!!! Your wife and therapist all wrapped up into one girl!!!" We both love books, had a wish for world peace... the only thing I don't like about her is she has no epic randomness.

I kinda choose on personality. I like to check out the Ushi website before I buy it, mostly because I want to see what kind of game play it is and if it's worth buying (which I don't know why I ask myself; I love all the HM games I've played so far. :heart:

). But then I read into the Bachelors and see which one I would probably like the best. Then I talk to all of them and see if I do like the one I picked.

I know, sounds stalker-ish. :shifty:

I generally know all the bachelors (when available, of course) before getting the game. I always choose a few, 1 or 2 I like, and check what they do, their personalities and personal interests. Like Mikhail from ToTT, it was love at first sight. And when I learned he was a musician and played violin (my favourite musical instrument) I knew it was going to be him.

I just wish it was that easy in real life

Usually I go by personalities and then their events. Like one of Luke's in ToT or AP. I forget which one.

I also choose Ash for his yellow flower event. It was sweet.

Then, the definite deciding factor for me is their personalities. :lala:

I did not like Chase in the beginning for instance, but liked him later for his personality.
( Still not enough to marry him though... )

I usually go for the girls easist to woo, because I can't be asked to put effort into marriage. In ToT I did things slightly different and picked a spouse who didn't get married and was easy to woo.

When I was younger.. It was the prettiest girl. So Popuri kind of won lol. Pink hair was so cool for a little girl.

Nowadays I go for who I think would make the best wife. In AWL, the second Harvest Moon game I ever played, I chose Celia because I thought she would make the best wife and mother. Muffy seemed.. like she would step out on me and was far too make up and high heels. Where as Nami seemed to tom boyish. I wanted something in the middle to represent women for my son.

It's different when I play as a girl though. I go for whoever is 'hottest'. For example; Kana and Calvin<3

I did marry Mana in RF2 though just so she wouldn't be alone. I couldn't bear it. But then.. Yue was alone

Mostly it's for whoever would make the best wife. I think that's why I could never finish my GB file where I was wooing Antoinette. She just.. didn't seem motherly..

I'm a bit old fashioned I guess..

In all games I just woo everyone for the heck of it but I stay single. There are a few games I got married in and here's why:

A Wonderful Life: I had files where I had married each girl but Nami was the girl I stuck with in the files I played past chapter two. I chose her because she was the most difficult, her kid was cute, and I liked her personality most.

Another Wonderful Life: Again I had married each guy in one file. Marlin was guy I stayed with in the end. I chose him for the same reason I picked Nami. Except he wasn't really hard. I like his kid and his personality most though. Also it was nice he influenced my son to e a farmer.

Magical Melody: I married Jamie :heart:

. Why? Cause the game ended when you married him/her XD. Plus he/she was more difficult because there were extra requirements and that's just the way I liked it. We were a match made in HM heaven. A crazy winning obsessed farmer who I could actually marry and not be stuck with for the rest of my game.

Boy & Girl: I got married only in my female file. This one I just married everyone but Kai. I'd get one marriage then since the game reset itself to before I got married I just kept playing that file and went on to marry someone else. I never married Kai cause I was having a lot of issues with his Heart Events so when summer ended that year I ended up not playing the game long enough for him to come back to town. I hope to go back and finish that one of these days.

When I was younger it was usually who resembled or acted the most like 64 Gray. He was my first love of Harvest Moon. Also, I really liked him as my brother-in-law, along with Hall as my father-in-law. I loved the Green family to bits. Even when Gray married Popuri. (Though when I was younger I hated Popuri because she could marry Gray and I couldn't.)

Now that I'm older I usually go based on personality. It's usually either the 64Gray personality or the sweet personality. For the girls I go for whoever I think has the best personality all around.

I have to say, I like to marry in the first two weeks I own the game. Even though usually the girls that are hardest to get are my favorites, I don't always have the patience. (Ex: I'm becoming to impatient to marry Jamie on my 2nd file, it's taking to long even though I think Jamie is awesome I might marry someone else instead)
