if you like birds, visual novels, emotionally engaging storylines, well-developed characters, really bizarre things, or all of the above, hatoful boyfriend is worth a play. it's a lot more than it's advertised as, believe you me.
content warning for violence, homicide, avicide, extremely unethical applications of science, references to suicide and mental instability, and pretty much everything
but kissing and related subjects. (c'mon, they're pigeons.) all content warned for is presented in text only; the worst that the visuals get are red tint filters and some blood in illustrations.
the demo version can be downloaded for free here if you want to test out the game. it requires applying a translation patch, instructions for which can be found with download of the patch.
the full version can be purchased in english here. it costs five dollars and requires a credit card or other card number usable for online transactions. NOTE: most people who download the game will encounter an error upon first launching it, involving the file "habataki.wav". this problem can be fixed by updating Quicktime.
once you've played the game through - ALL THE WAY, answer arc and extended ending included - the fandisk (sort of like a sequel/bonus game, but it has about as much content as the first game!), Hatoful Boyfriend: Holday Star,
