Hey guys,
I'm considering ordering Radiant Historia on amazon, but I'm not sure. I've heart a lot of praise towards the game, and apparently the story is amazing, but I am still not 100% convinced. The gameplay just doesn't seem interesting to me because it is turn based (at least I believe it is) and I don't have much patience for turn based games. Do you guys think I should look past the fighting and get it anyway?
Thanks!

RH IS AMAZING GET IT
even though it is turn-based fighting, it adds in strategy elements and rewards you for using the grid system and creating complex combos, and is one of the few games where i actually used magic and special techniques more than just heavy physical attacking (since it discourages that), so if you dislike the automated feel of turn-based games, where you just mash the button that tells your character to attack, it isn't like that. it's a bit more complex. the battle system feels really fresh, actually. i quite liked it myself, and i also usually dislike turn-based systems. it seems to take the best of a traditional JRPG fighting system and an SRPG fighting system and adds in a combo system to encourage different types of attacks to create something new.
it can get a bit tiresome by the end of the game (there seems to be a couple of lulls in there, at least for me -- i get tired of the battle system right before i get the star traps, burst light, etc., and then again towards the end of the game once i've used those to my heart's content -- at this point, i typically just burst light everything into oblivion!), but there are some pretty difficult boss battles you can try, which can be fun since you really need to plan your strategy and build your combos carefully, and random encounters are easy enough to avoid, since you can see the enemies on the screen (and often stun then and then run away, avoiding a battle altogether).
plus, the story and characters are AMAZING. it feels a bit repetetive and confusing at first, since you are taking many short trips between timelines to the same areas, but once the story gets going, you get going on sidequests, and you stay in each timeline for longer, it gets much better. it's a fantastic game.
though, since it is so story-heavy (and the story is quite heavy in and of itself, being fairly dark and heavily into military strategy), there is a lot of reading, so be prepared for that. the story itself is really good, and most of the characters are really interesting (though there are some characters who are...problematic, to say the least *coughrayniecough*), so you probably won't notice or mind just how much reading there is.
the music is also wonderful.
