Despite the fact she was pretty shy, her outer character could be quite cold and even snobbish. I see very few parallels between her and Mary. Marvelous has a hard time coming up with a book worm that isn't a Mary clone...I can't really think of one that isn't... Celia was okay. I liked her in AWL. In DS/Cute she kinda lacks personality, but she is still more interesting than some bachelorettes from the new games. And a bookworm... I think that Maria from MM wasn't Mary's clone, but I'm still not sure here. I haven't played MM. Yeah, I would like to see some magical bachelor/ettes  I'm wonder who they are going to be. Maybe kitsune or a merman?

She looks somewhat like the kind of girl I like.

What else is left? Lol you shouldn't have asked. :p We haven't gotten a ghost, catgirl, angel, devil/demon, genie, sprite, pirate, jungle girl/amazon, elf, fairy, vampire, werewolf, time-traveler, etc. They got tons to work with. Except with all of those choices it sounds more like for RF characters And yet some of the ones that you mentioned also sound like RF characters. Witch (RF, RFF, RF3, RF ToD(Pandora is an evil sorceress but can do magic) Mermaid(RF 3) Priestess (RF ToD) Odette is technically a Dragon Priestess/Cook but she is a priestess. Hermit(RF3) Daria lives outside of town in a house by herself and the game even jokes that her family is her artwork. She might be too obsessive with her artwork and rainbows but would you really want her to live in town lol? Basically if it can happen in the RF it can happen in the HM series and vice-versa.

SNES Maria was more about church than reading. At least I think she was.
MM Maria came out after Mary. Still it's not really fair to call her a Mary clone since her original self came out first. That aside even though she was a bookworm in MM I still wouldn't call her a Mary clone. Besides liking reading/working in a library they don't have that much more in common.

I think SNES Maria and MM Maria are same character just in different games. If I remember correctly MM had all the original HM bachelorettes in it(Ann, Maria, Nina, Eve, and Ellen) and plus some. It was rumored that the HM64 bachelorettes were the decendants of the HM girls. So if anything Maria came first and Mary is just a Maria clone lol.

Yuri is one of bachelorettes. On this pic you can't see her heart, because you are shopping. In ToTT you couldn't see the flowers of love/friendship, when you were buying stuff too. Yuri has also appeard on the bachelor/ettes art:

Does this mean the missing bachelor is the male MC default and one of the missing bachelorettes is the female MC default?

I think so too. I'd make sense they'd give the main characters chibis since they are the main character.
And "special" candidates can sometime be excluded from things like that because they are special. So it is definitely possible that the MCs are not marriage candidates. And even if they are there will most likely be another special bachelor/bachelorette like in IoH/SI.
