I actually prefer Bluebell. I was surprised because I usually prefer crops to animals, but I enjoy taking care of animals in this game and I still get room for some crops which is nice. Also, I like the bachelors better in Bluebell, so on those rare lazy days that I don't feel like traveling all the way to the other town, I can still take to them and raise friendship.

For me Bluebell is far more beautiful. Kono's music gets a tad annoying after a while, and Bluebell gets reasonable field space for you to farm whatever crops you want, and plenty of space for animals.
Kono the barn is just way too small, restricted to just 4 cows/or sheep, a horse, and two chickens? Kono's fields are dramatically too large as well, you'd waste all your stamina just watering half of it twice a day. But you can bring in by the time of your first summer like 50,000+ gold per month, I hit 120,000 from 19,000+ on my first fall at kono just by growing crops religiously. I don't see that kind of profit off animals so early in the game, you need alot of them to really match that with good heart rating.
But after you get Kono built up so you can put like 6-8 trees on it I think it would be well worth staying at Kono for a year or more just to get it to such a position because trees don't require much mending, or work you can leave them at kono while living in Bluebell and only check them every once and w hile.

Oh I know! The classic system was so awesome, I admit to wanting change, but not in the mechanics so much as the content, so as to keep things fast paced but longer lasting and interesting.
Changes that are good: - new marriage candidates (male AND female) - special marriage candidates (for optional challenge) - new crops/items/recipes - new animals - new festivals/events etc - new towns/areas etc - getting to play as a male OR a female yourself
But things I don't like: - minigames (I REALLY DO NOT HAVE TIME OR PATIENCE TO PLAY THE TOUCH MILKER GAME IN DS EVERY DAY FOR HOWEVER MANY COWS I HAVE) - animations/actions taking a long time or being too involved (the wii movement thing in tree of tranquility, honestly I am not here to hand water all crops lol) - Freshness and Ranking systems (give you potential for getting rich but its a level of thinking that leaves me spending more time calculating and worrying over getting it wrong rather than just getting on with it and planting) - Limited or no storage (It's hard enough to get some of the rarer items or crops and i want to keep everything darn it) - Weather closing shops (where DID that idea come from) - Random inventories (it's hard enough to save for stuff let alone have to have a "chance" at buying it when I've got the money!?) - Soil fertility (I am not spending a heap on raising soil quality for it to go down again... how does one even make a profit?? Not to mention different fields like in AWL) and many more but I'm sure I've made my point about the difference between new content and new mechanics haha The only new mechanic I think I really love is the dating one, much more story and atmosphere and they make raising heart levels much easier and more enjoyable too.
Oh, those golden classics, like BtN and FOMT, even the DS's were alright, although Cute more so XP I am not able to play the 64 version because it wasn't released in PAL version, and they don't seem inclined to do so on virtual console either D:< But I'm betting that's also great :D
Despite all this, ToTT is my favourite from the new HM games >.>

Harvest Moon 2 ! Actually it was only called 64 outside Japan for some reason. Japan it was Harvest Moon 2. I dislike how it's displayed on this forums showing HM 1/2 as Gameboy games, when thats not true at all. Very miss leading. xD
64 to me was the best one. It's the most timeless HM game and I think the longest I went on a single save game was 9 years more than any other HM game I've ever played. It was more rewarding personally, festival rewards were worth wild, 80%+ of the decorations in your house were gifts or rewards for festivals or winning town raffles. So you had more ingame memories every time you walked into your home. The n64 HM game also had the most balanced farm personally, just the right amount of space for everything.
For such reasons one day I hope they make like a "Return to Flowerbud Village" style HM sequal to Harvest Moon 2. Harvest Moon 64 and Harvest Moon the original were related, in the same village, with new villages, 64 was set two generations later from the first game. So it had history which was nice. Ellen for example who as also on BTN was one of the possible brides on the original Harvest Moon, on the 64 and BTN she was Elli's grand mother.
But still really ending my rant. BLUEBELL!
For people like me, it's the most balanced farm. Since you DO NOT HAVE to own a lot of animals if you don't want to. The massive fields on Kono just COMPELL me to want to fill them all up. Kono's small barn also just makes it not fun, you can not have enough animals. T.T
