it depends realy.
in LiB1, the girl has short eyesight, so you cant go far. you can climb small ledges but not much more unless you take the boy with you (he climbs up waist high and then can pull you up i think) you prety much spend all the game in girl mode, cooking seaweed salad and beach combing for sticks XD

in LiB2, as the girl you are better at archery (apparently) but he can still climb up higher, and there is at least one place where i couldnt go. you also need to take the guy with you to do any woodwork in most games, where as the guy can do it all alone (apart from certain event builds where you need to take your partner with you)

its mostly the same with LiB3 too. i kinda get sick of the fact that i have to play the game as the guy first (usualy) to unlock the girls part, or that i cant play fully as the girl. so yeah, women do nothing but bake bread and make babies for you designers outside of UK? :P
at least in survival kids, it didnt matter if i was the guy or the girl.
i have looked at sk2. its got a fan translation in the works but its been so long since anyone took up the chalenge it might need a concerted effort to restart it. (patched stuff using emulators for those who allready own a copy, from what i can tell)
so considering no one seems to play GBC games anymore (but us old retro lovin-farts) i dont think it will get finished...

i want a LiB where im 12-14 again. no more damn romance all the time....let me decide to stay on the damn island rather than go home to civilisation again ^^ and i want it to have an online island where i can swap stuff. if there has to be some 16-21 year olds for some reason, they can be NPCs on the island, telling us what to do XD

Thank you, but sadly there is nothing to get me past a certan point... I do get everything I need for the fire, but the minigame kills the mood every time. I was terrible at the L-R pushing (even when it's usually the easiest thing for me to do on other games) and then the blowing... It didn't seem to work... Someone suggested that you have to blow in a different way if I'm not mistaken... and there it stops for me... I can do almost everything at the same time, but when it comes to a simple task like pushing buttons and blowing...
Everyone describes it as if it was easy, but I end up doing it wrong... T_T

And I also heard that:
Spoiler:
You have to talk to a monkey in one of the DS games. I would feel silly doing that, blowing into the microphone is my limit already.

You have to keep a steady rate when pushing the L and R buttons.
Too slow and the ember won't heat up, too fast and you lose your grip on the stick.

As for blowing into the DS mic, I'm not sure what is wrong. I never had any problem.
I always just blew as hard as I could into the mic to get the fire started, and it always worked in at least two blows.
I never heard that you need to do it in a specific way. Are you sure your DS mic is working properly?

Spoiler:
There is a gorilla in LiB2, that's the closest thing I can think your talking about. But you don't befriend it. It stands in your path at one location and tries to intimidate you and chase you off. You have to imitate it to make it back down.

Now I really am considering playing the game. I can play all three, but tried starting a fire on Lost in Blue 1 and I did it! I have to admit that I messed up a few times, but then it worked! Thank you.

That must be what I heard... I guess I will never be able to do anything with that, my limit really is blowing into the microphone, I won't make strange sounds...

Yeah in the first game once you beat the game you can play as the girl, Skye I believe her name was. As her you can only go in the starting area you can't climb any ledges at all not even small ones. All you do is gather stuff, keep the fire going and cook. Oh and make necklaces. It's the boy that gets all the other stuff and finds all the stuff to advance the story. The times when he calls you to help him are all scenes and you don't actually move.

Second game in the LiB series is probably the best one to be a girl. If I recall wasn't there an area that only the boy could get to and a area the girl could get to? Also as for the archery thing I never really noticed but I really really suck at that part in the game xD

Haven't played the third game, so I'm not sure I have just heard that the girls pretty much suck in that one.

Haven't beaten the Wii one yet but I hear all the characters play the same. So that's good.

But Survival Kids and Lost in Blue 2 were probably the best in the series.

aye. my main problem with the Wii version is the 100day rule
(in that, if i remember correctly, you have only 100days befor you get a game over)

i realy do want a new Lib game..or rather a Survival KIDS one. im tired of having to worry about the feelings of some other character...who says i should have to fall in love with someone, just casue im trapped on an island with them...this isnt the bloomin 'blue lagoon' ya know XD

i would rather have one where im a kid, 10 or 12...someone thats a nutter about the outdoors. a wilderness girl or boy scout that knows how to survive and stuff. no more worrying about if my 'necklace' will be nice...or if im embarasing the boy/girl im sharing with...something a bit less complicated and more about survival than relationships XD

and i want to make MOAR STUFF!
even if i just take LiB2 as a starting point....i can make a nice wooden shelf, and i can make simple baskets from bamboo, but i cant use that brain of mine to make baskets to store my wild crops in?
i can make a raft and even fashion a tree house and ladder, but i cant make a fence to keep chickens in, or form coconut bowls....i cant even use a glass bottle to make a fire via sunlight? XD

Well most of them have had some sort of time limit, and have lead to one of the endings, and many have a survival mode that you can unlock that has no time limit. But it would be great not to have to feel like you have to hurry in story mode. Afterall there have been people who have survived for years by themselves and were later rescued. So it's not unbelievable.

But even SK1 had a relationship aspect.
Spoiler:
The best ending was a flash forward in which the two children were getting married.
Though in SK1 you couldn't find the other person till half way through, and it wasn't that difficult to go through the entire game never finding them.

That being said, I would definitely like to see something like that. With at least not being able to find them until later into the game. As that would allow them to give the player less complexity at the beginning. And as you near the midpoint the game becomes easier only to have the other person bring new options and opportunities, but also more complexity and difficulty.

the SK1 relationship part was fine. i have no problems marrying in the ending cut scene XD
its the worrying every time you say the wrong thing to the other character in the LiB ones that are my problem.
i also dont realy mind time limit endings, but the Wii one was too short. a year is acceptable to me but 100 days? its one of those limits that ccasue you to go get a walkthru and follow it as closely as you can becasue otherwise you cant get a decent ending.
i also dont mind the ending being that if your still there after a year you end up staying..allthough i prefer that *after* the ending you can return to the island to keep playing :P (allthough if you chose that, you could not unlock anymore achements/endings/minigames ect...i am allways willing to give up that kinda stuff to be able to do and play the way i want hehe.)

im hoping the Morphic Field's listening...*poke poke* to us whinging chicken chasers...seems to have been working with the harvest moon series :)

That's pretty much it. Keep her stats up, keep a fire goin, and eventually you will get some scenes in which you will get choices in what to say. Saying the right thing will raise your relationship, saying the wrong thing will lower it. But raising Skye's relationship level isn't neccisary. It's only needed if you want to get the best ending.

That's the reason I'm doing it. Except for getting the scenes (which don't seem to appear, no matter how high the states are and how much I talk to her), is there any way I can tell how high it is?
And also, do I have to do anything special to make her ask me for things? She stopped asking for new things like the shelf-upgrade and she I heard she's supposed to ask for a table and chairs too, and it's the same with the drying raft... She either says there's nothing new or sometimes tells me that there might be something on the beach after a storm (great, a stone...) and once she said something about wondering whether I would find something good, but I couldn't figure out what she meant...

You can also make bracelets from collected beautiful shells. These can then be given to her to raise her relationship level. Other then that, keep the fire going, keep her feed and her thirst quenched, talk to her regularly, and say the right things when you do get events.

But it does take a while to get her relationship up.
What day are you currently on?

Actually, she already is doing the work with the fire on her own. Good thing because I hated running back to the cave just to check on the fire when I wanted to explore.
If the game is correct, I'm on day 14.

It's alright now. The problem kind of solved itself after a few more days and
Spoiler:
after I went to the other side of the lake with the raft.
