Post subject: Animals won't eat grass?!

About a week ago in my game my animals just stopped eating their grass? I gave it a few days but every day I kept em outside they wouldn't eat, so they'd be unhappy, so I had to bring em in tha barn which sucks because everyday they've been in the barn it's been sunny! And I'm trying to get the extra points from letting them graze outside on sunny or hot days. So I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else and what I should do?

P.s I let em back outside for a day and so far they say there happy but they still didn't eat any of the grass ( which btw is fully grown and everything)

T.I.A!

Uhm, if you put food on the barn, they eat the food IN the barn everyday, when you let them grass outside, they are glad because you let them out
:/ i had the same issue but then i discovered they eat each morning.

If you are putting fodder in the feeders and letting them out and they are not eating outside, they are feeding in the barn. You will still get friendship points for each one if they don't eat outside. The friendship points are based on the strength of the sunshine and the length of time they spend outside, not the amount of grass they eat.

I don't grow grass on my field so I always keep my feeders full. All my cows are at 10 hearts.

Keep an eye on the feeders and use your sickle on the grass. You can add the fodder you create to the fodder in the barn.

You can also tell for sure by not putting fodder out in the barn for them. If you do this and the grass begins to disappear, you know that was the problem. If the animals go outside regularly you really only need to feed them in the barn on stormy or drizzly days.

No that's not the problem, I only put enough food for my one baby cow in the barn, and even then I didn't have my baby cow half a week ago meaning they stopped eating before I even put onefeeders worth of food in there. :shifty:

Do you get a heart when you speak to the calf? You should (the orange/red one in the bubble above the animal's head) even though there are no friendship hearts yet. If you are getting a black cloud or three dots the calf could be getting sick.

Can you push the calf outside? I know you get a message if you try to take a chick or a pregnant cow outside and the game won't let you do it.
If the calf can't go outside it has to be eating from a feeder.

In my experience the "..." in a bubble precedes the skull in a conversation bubble which indicates that the animal is sick and needs to be treated.

If that is not happening and the animal is not upset, I would cut the grass into fodder with your sickle and keep an eye on the animal. There may be something happening but it may not be what you think.

I had a chicken I worried wasn't eating but it never appeared sick. I had to just stop worrying and when I left everyone inside, because of the weather, whoever wasn't eating started eating. I never figured out why I had a chicken not eating but it stopped.

You should get at heart in the bubble over the calf's head when you talk to her the first time everyday. As long as that is happening don't worry.

In SI, the animals never need to leave their barns (unless you have the sprites do it). Keeping them inside works out much better, time & effort-wise. Their hearts will grow without ever going outside and you can make sure they're fed/brushed/etc. Plus you won't lose chickens and eggs in the tall grass >_<.

Well, I like to keep the cows and sheep in the barn most of the time; the chickens are the only ones I send out (to save money, because I'm cheap XD). it's easier, and they eat first anyways, so sending them outside will only give you a few extra heart points...it's really not worth it...
