How do I find my friend code?

Your friend code should be on the top screen when you go view your Friend Roster.

and I am not sure if a DS Vers of ToTT playing on a 3DS would connect to a DS cart. in a DS system.

You seem to be able to use the 3DS with a DS cart as long as you can connect to your internet source in the 3DS's DS wireless settings menu, which is my issue. I have incompatible wi-fi, apparently. I believe it works other than that.
