My first chicken died today... Man it was the saddest thing ever... The cut scene made it worse.
I'm so sad now. :(

I know it's weird, but I can't bring myself to do that. It's like game etiquette I guess? Haha, like having to be on time to the festivals. I have it in my head that selling them before they die is taboo.

I used to hate it, but MFoMT numbed me to it. I swear I went through at least 20 chickens on my first run through of the game

The first one is the hardest. Mine always seem to be happy but don't have the life expectency I read they would have.

I only name the first set and the replacements just have a two or three since Jr won't fit with most of the names they have. Kind of my way of honoring them.

Grand Bazaar had the worst since Mayor Felix came and spoke a eulogy for each animal's accomplishments.

I haven't played ToTT long enough for any animals to die, but I just HATED it in MFoMT (my first HM game).
The cutscene... and the music.... ;n;
I always save the night before, and just reload and everything's all happy again <3 I keep it until the animal tries to die every day, and then I eventually give in and sell it.
That way, to me, it never dies. It just goes off to another farm to live happily ever after.

Maybe I should try that.But I always sell them about 1 year before the year that their life spans end.

All those people somehow always knows when your animals die.Are they stalking us? 0.o

They must be! I wouldn't put it past Jessica to be "spying" on a rival farm. But why's she gotta come announce it like that? I think your character should go to the barn and discover the chicken is sick or something like that. Then take it to Jessica.

And oh gosh Felix and his eulogies. I think the first time I was actually so distraught I teared up. I was sitting there yelling at the game, "Why did it have to end this way!? You were my best chicken!!"

And how do you know the animal is going to die? My three year old white alpaca died yesterday, and I've read here that they lived roughly 6 years. And reloading doesn't help either. Although I've also read it here, I tried it once... Now I lost 4 healthy and happy animals :(

I had this happen to me as well. :/ My white chicken died at about 4 years (spring year 5), white alpaca at 3.5 years (spring year 6), and my suffolk sheep and silkie chicken at 4 years (spring year 6). So when I replaced the white chicken I decided to do the treat stuff. When I was almost done, (spring year 5), I decided to go ahead and just do it for everyone else since they could live all the way to 5 or 6 years and they weren't that old, only around 3 or 4.

And then I ended up having three animals die on me in the first month of giving it to them. :< I was like...geez, wasted all those treats. So just doing the treat stuff with their replacements. It'd be better if the productivity carried on to offspring. <-<

I also wasn't able to get it to reload so they wouldn't die. It seemed like once they decided the animal was going to die, no amount of restarting was going to fix it. Oh well. I read somewhere that as they get older the percentage chance of them dying gets higher (so for alpacas, it'd be a low chance they'd die at age 2, but a much higher chance they'd die at age 5 or more). But I don't want to sell my 3 year old cow because he's only 3. Eh.
