Considering I'm a festival fanatic, I would have tons of festivals every month if they're available. xD (specially romantic ones. <3)

I'm glad that we can control the festivals and I hope there are lots of varied ones. The one thing that drove me nuts about ToTT was that there were too many cooking festivals. I mean, I know that is what helps bring the towns together, but my goodness. Variety por favor!

Agreed. Maybe one cooking festival a month would have been ok. But one every week, specially for a person like me who has never really cooked foods in HM unless they can net me major income...was definitely a bit much.

Plus, they only have two conversations shared after you max the hearts of the two cities in the cooking festival. Suddenly it becomes rather repetitive. Couldn't they thought up a few more skits to add some variety to the conversations? xD

Also agreed.

Personally, I would NEVER even gather all my high-quality crops and products EVERY SINGLE WEEK for a festival that doesn't even have that good of prizes. I would also agree that they could've cut it down to at LEAST once per season. That could've been ok. Plus, Pierre walking back and forth taking forever to pick the victorious team was quite annoying since it repeated every single time.

Oh! Don't forget that when you do turn in a totally awesome, complex, level 5 star plate for the cooking festival...you end up getting a moron or two who think a failed dish makes for a perfect entry. >_<

And you lose...and suddenly that hard work to get that heart worthy dish...goes right off the cliff. ><

Oh ya! I hated that « Puppy Doodoo ». Oh, or when all of my team turns in decent dishes and the other team has two good dishes and a failed one and they beat me. I was all like RAAAGGGGEEEE!!!! (someone probably did some favors for Pierre before the festival, if you know what I mean...)
So what festivals have been confirmed? I've heard of these ones so far:
Bean Throwing Festival
Harmony Day
Night of the Hollies
Sweet Potato Eating Contest
New Years Eve

I'm really hoping for some sort of a race festival, couples festivals, and is it wrong of me to want to resurrect the drinking festival from HM 64?

I think there will be some fishing festivals because there are some trophies with the shape of a fish on that screenshot (just like the ones in RF3) : http://i42.tinypic.com/6nsb5y.jpg.

If we can have the choice, I will never ever ever set up a bean throwing festival. That is just a stupid waste of time in my opinion. I came here to grow crops and fight monsters, not dodge a bean D:<

A bean festival sounds AWESOME!!!

Im sorry, it just sounds really funny, if you could watch everyone trying to throw beans, and some of them just fail as their beans only land a few feet away xD. Im sorry, just that it's really funny in my head.
