This week's Famitsu chart has Harvest Moon: Connect to a New World total sales in Japan set at 201,725 since its release on February 27. In contract, ten days ago MAQL announced that Rune Factory 4 Japan sales had reached 200,000 units (retail and digital download), and that game has been out since July of 2012.
There's a bit of rumorish information regarding New World's English release date. While Natsume hasn't officially announced anything yet, retail leaks hint at an October release. Personally, I feel that is too soon, but I don't set the game release dates; if I did, it wouldn't be until after January 2015! With the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) coming up in two months, we're bound to hear more information about the company's plans for North American localization.

So, New World does have an option to cook with your food materials, but your house doesn't come with a kitchen like in Harvest Moon: A New Beginning. You will have to purchase the blueprint for the Kitchen at the Silkroad Trade Station vendor, then construct it with some basic foraged materials (lumber, material stone, and iron). You cannot randomly make a cooked dish, so the recipes can be purchased from the Trade Station vendors or by buying meals at Rega's restaurant (sometimes he'll give you a recipe after you've eaten).
One improvement in this version of Harvest Moon is that the last recipe you cooked is automatically selected once you put the cooked dish in your rucksack. If you are trying to increase your cooking rank degree by using the Kitchen 3000 times, you won't have to move through all of the categories and recipes to make the same dish again like in ANB. This is much more convenient!
Another thing about the recipes is that you don't have the option to make arrangements (i.e., add extra ingredients) until after you have made between 15 and 30 of the cooked dish. The game will then notify you that you can now add ingredients when you are just cooking that recipe. If you want to be able to add ingredients to all of your recipe options, then you'll need to unlock the ability for each one. You can kind of look at it as if you have mastered the recipe and are now knowledgeable enough to add bonus ingredients.
The green furniture is something crafted from blueprints. Your starting farmhouse has the basic white fridge and brown storage boxes.

(An awesome Tartan statue blueprint becomes available once you ship 5000 Turnips and Tropical Country unlocks. I guess that's as close as I'm going to get to Murrey being in the game!)
