New Precious Friends Info | Posted at 08:37 PM 08 April 2016
In this week's Weekly Famitsu from Japan, more information was released about Story of Seasons: Precious Friends of the 3 Hometowns. For starters, Nintendo is teaming up again for another Mario collaboration. Instead of Super Mario crops, this time it is Mario-themed clothing outfits. You can dress up as Mario, Princess Peach, Toad, and Luigi (although Toad and Luigi are in silhouette, hinting at their existence), with the outfits affecting your farmer in the game. Wearing Peach's pink dress will help to raise your friendship with the villagers, and Mario's red and blue overalls make you move faster. Players won't be crafting their own clothing outfits in this new version. Instead, the towns have a tailor shop where you take the materials to have the clothing crafted, each with a unique style of clothing. The cloth is still created by using a maker, and this time there is a Cloth Maker that is shaped like an oversized sewing machine. Changing your hair style and hair color is also done at the shops in town. In Lulukoko Village (the tropical town), you can place a Fish Basket in the water to catch fish. This activity was first included in Harvest Moon: A New Beginning and has returned in Precious Friends. The article introduces two new marriage candidates: Hinata works at the general store in Tsuyukusa Village and dreams of becoming an actor some day, and Komari is a waitress at the town tea house with a bit of a tom-boyish nature. New villagers from Tsuyukusa were introduced too. Itetsu is the serious-natured manager of a grocery store in Tsuyukusa along with his spouse, Shizu. They have two children, Tatsumi (the older brother) and Yaichi (the younger brother). The Famitsu article also explains that a toppings option has been added to kitchen cooking recipes, which seems to act like the standard additions you can use when cooking from past version of the series. Eating a cooked dish, whether from your own kitchen or a restaurant, might result in a "Meal Power" that affects your character. The dish's effects will be marked as icons on the recipe card for each dish, representing abilities such as stamina conservation. Cooking recipes can be learned from villagers, such as Iuka and Shuka in Lulukoko Village, with each town having its own characteristic recipes. In North America, Nintendo is having a Spring Sale on select video games until April 21st, and one of the games on sale is the digital version of Story of Seasons. You'll find the game for $29.99 (normally $39.99) in the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Natsume has answered some more questions that were submitted for the Winter Q&A. You can read the questions and company responses for all three parts of the series on their Facebook page: As for my adventures in Potatoland, things are still quiet. The little seed potatoes looked as though they were beginning to sprout, but nothing has come of it yet. Today it was 80° F outside too, but alas, I just have a bunch of potatoes sitting in dirt. Bah! Until next time - Cher (Oye, so warm... and it is only April... where is the Oregon rain? At least it cools off tomorrow.)
