The Ushi No Tane websites specialize in information, FAQs, and guides about the Nintendo console versions of the Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Legend of the River King video games. These game genres are created and published in Japan by Marvelous (JP). In other regions, you'll find Natsume, XSeed Games/Marvelous (USA), Marvelous (EU), and Rising Star involved in the series' release.
The latest version of the mainstream farming series that have been released in various regions of the world are:
The latest version of River King, in all regions of the world, is River King: Mystic Valley (JP 2007, NA 2008, EU 2009).
Since 2000, Ushi no Tane has been run by a grouchy old lady who happens to be fond of video game agriculture along with two feline helpers: Intern Captain Bootu and Intern Hondo Mewnaka. The website is not officially affiliated, sponsored, endorsed, or employed by the developers of Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, or River King. This is simply a fan site.
From June 13 until October 12, Cafe Hikariya in Shibuya will transform into a Bokumono Cafe in celebration of the series' 20th anniversary. There'll be Bokumon-themed lunch and dinner menu items such as Winter Milk Tea, Lulukoko Kiwi Soda, Westown Herb Salad, and Alpaca Cappuccino. There will even be a Cow Curry meal with a cow-shaped rice paddy, and a Twitter campaign where if you tweet a selfie using the hashtag #ぼくものカフェ while you're there, you can enter to win one of five "Bokumono Milk" mugs. Bokumono crazy! You can read more about it and see images of the farm-themed menu items on the promotional website:
Also in Japan, the Wii U Virtual Console has been blessed with the Gameboy Advanced game, Kawa no Nushi Tsuri 5, which we know as Legend of the River King: Never Released in English. The game came out 14 years ago on the GBA console, but never made it outside of Japan. It's a cute little game where you are pulled into a river and transported to a magical world where you must solve the mystery of each village in order to find your way home. Why is the King of Oven Kingdom acting so weird? How can you convince Emett's aristocratic dad to allow her to marry her lower-class beloved, even though he's currently missing? Oh so many problems to solve by fishing! There's even a Fogu guide for it.
In North America, Harvest Moon: Skytree Village is still set for a 2016 release date, with an European date set for 2017. The PSP/Vita game Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon is on sale for 75% off ($3.74 USD) for non-PS+ members and 85% off ($2.24 USD) for PS+ members as part of week 2 of Sony's Mid-Year Sale. This discount will be available until July 12 at 8:00 am Pacific Time. Heck, this is so cheap you could buy it even if you don't have a way to play it! (^^; )
Since it has been a while, here is the Nintendo DREAM 4-col comic for July!
Until next time!
