Kickstarter Updates, Mega Cows Return, Stories in Mara, and July 2021 BokuMobile Events | Posted at 02:00 PM 02 July 2021

Happy Farm'n Friday! We made it through the extraordinary heatwave this week, reaching a high of 115°F (about 46° C) on Monday. Our neighborhood didn't have any buckling streets like Portland did, but there were a few power outages. There were also a few Bald Eagle chickens that bailed out of their nest to escape the heat. The local Audobon Society helped them out, so all's well there too.

The front-yard flowers sustained some leaf damage but are okay for the most part. They were covered with the wintertime frost cloths so they'd have some shade. Unfortunately, the backyard blueberries were severely damaged by the heat. I harvested blueberries from the early ripening plant last weekend, but the mid-season and late-season bushes weren't ready when the heatwave arrived. About half the berries on the blushes are now fried and shriveled. The local CSA berry farm wrote that they were harvesting what they could during the night, using spotlights to illuminate their fields. The local news even did a story on the heat damage to Christmas trees, both the newly planted sprouts and the trees that were going to be harvested this year.

The recent hubbub is now the restriction on fireworks. Because of how hot and dry it was this week, some cities have banned the sale and use of fireworks for the next two weeks. There are a few grumblings about "Mwa freedomz!!", but it's just not safe at the moment. I'd rather partiers skip out on Fourth of July fireworks than run the risk of potentially burning down someone's house.

Cow Mega Plushies Return

The popular mega plushies from the 25th Anniversary celebration of Bokujou Monogatari are returning as prizes at participating game centers in Japan until the end of July. These large cows are about 12 inches high and super cute, but they are also head-heavy and tilt forward. Those tiny legs do not carry their weight! If you're not in Japan, you might be able to score this uncommon BokuMono merch at online auction websites or a Japan proxy.

Kickstarter Updates

The alpha release of Coral Island is still planned for a July 31 release. Not all of the content Stairway Games wanted to include in the alpha will make it into the release because of production issues caused by the Coronavirus in their home country of Indonesia. The alpha release will still have a lot though! You can read about what will be included in the July 31 release on the Kickstarter Updates page:

Voice acting will be included in My Time at Sandrock, which will be recorded after the script has been completed. The team has also added new interiors to City Hall and the Commercial Guild. Pathea also published a new video of the day/night cycle to show off the new lighting system they built into the game.

Stories of Mara on Steam

Fans of the tropical sea exploration game, Summer in Mara, can soon play a spin-off series later this summer called Stories of Mara. This new visual novel series takes place after the events of Summer in Mara, and highlights the characters met on the island of Qalis.

Chapter 1 of this visual novel will showcase Akaji the blacksmith who lives on the island's north side at her forge. It seems that Koa has gone missing, and Akaji needs help from the other island residents to find her. Akaji will also deal with her own struggles while she works towards locating little Koa. Chibig hopes that players will enjoy bonding with the characters of Mara, as in-game choices will impact the story throughout different chapters that will be released later.

You can learn more about Stories of Mara on Chibig's Steam page:

July BokuMobile Events

A new month and a new schedule of events will occur in the online Bokujou Monogatari game for mobile devices.

Until next time!
