Latest Farming Video Game News

Happy Farm'n Friday! You guys must have been sweet-talking those mystery marigold seeds for me, as we got another one to sprout! Huzzah! Go us! I think we'll be okay with three mystery marigold plants from the late gardener's estate. That's enough to fill a flower pot, for sure.

As for the next seeds to start, I picked out several unopened packets of fancy-flowering poppy seeds from the seed archive. Ya know, the kinds of seeds one buys with the intent of planting but never get around to it. I know poppies are not seeds typically started indoors because of how problematic they are to transplant outdoors. But, I always have difficulty getting them to grow outdoors anyway because of slugs and whatnot. Since this year's coleus and marigolds have been successful, I figured I might have good enough luck to try the historically tough poppies! So far, two of the four varieties of seeds have started to germinate: the Rose Feathers and the Black Peony. The other two are still stubbornly sleeping. I hope they aren't too old to germinate.

I also tossed a bunch of purple Lauren's Grape poppy seeds into a flower pot outside, but nothing has sprouted yet! Gosh darn poppies...

I did get back to where I was in my Rune Factory 5 game and saved Hina's mom from the forest. Now maybe the little girl will stop whining about her mom (lol). I'm also not a fan of Julian. And why the heck is Terry not a marriage candidate?!

I've also been busy playing (and documenting) through PoOT lately to see how quickly I can get through Victor's town upgrade tasks. I recently reached Summer 8 and have fixed the streets and lamps a second time. I wish PoOT was a little more challenging, but at least the post-story Spirit tasks make up for it.

My Time at Sandrock Dated

Pathea finally received the certification from their government agency authorizing My Time at Sandrock to move into Early Access on Steam and the Epic Game Store.

The still-in-development game will be released on May 26, 2022 with an early discount price of $24.99. This price is expected to increase after the game is officially released on a not-yet-announced future date. Pathea anticipates the game being in Early Access mode for about a year while they work out additional features like the multi-player mode, NPC story quests, and additional music tracks. Those who funded the Kickstarter campaign to receive a beta PC game key will have their non-disclosure agreement lifted on May 11, allowing players to stream and share content from their game.

Basically, the game isn't quite finished yet, but at least it's moving forward! Pathea will use the feedback collected during the Early Access to refine the game for its future full release on PC and home consoles.

Sakuna Sake

As reported by Famitsu, sake producer Nakagawa Sake Brewery will be fermenting a batch of rice wine themed after our favorite rice-farming game, Sakuna: of Rice and Ruin. The special bottle of sake will cost 4367円 (about $35 USD). The popularity of the offering has already resulted in the first round of preorders being sold out, but preorders will resume today (April 8). The sake is planned for a normal retail sale later.

PoOT for Ps4

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will be released for Playstation 4/5 on July 28 in Japan and this "Summer" in Europe and North America.

Marvelous JP's official website in Japan confirms the game will cost 5980円 (~$48 USD) in their region and includes ALL the island DLC, marriage candidate special costumes, and bonus detective and Earth Sprite events that Switch/PC players had to buy via a separate expansion pass.

Like previous releases in Japan, there are an excessive amount of retailer-specific preorder options. The Trio of Town and SoS 1 costumes are back at Geo, the PSN store, Furuichi, Rakuten, Joshin, and Amazon.jp. AmiAmi is offering an acrylic cow keychain, Takara and Stellaworth offer pin badges, WonderGOO has an acrylic diorama, Animate and Neowing have microfiber cloths, and Eben has a wall poster.

Marvelous EU and Marvelous USA (XSeed) hasn't announced whether their regions will also receive preorder bonuses.

Marvelous JP is currently holding a retweet-and-win campaign where 10 lucky participants can win an "I AM BOKUJOU NUSHI" bag (i.e., "I am a farm king"). The contest is only open to farmers that live in Japan. Winners will be announced on the 22nd.

The first episode of the official Bokujou Monogatari radio show, Daiki Yamashita's Radio Station, was uploaded to Youtube by A&G Tribal Radio. The April 2 episode is about 10 minutes long.
