The Ushi No Tane websites specialize in information, FAQs, and guides about the Nintendo console versions of the Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, and Legend of the River King video games. These game genres are created and published in Japan by Marvelous (JP). In other regions, you'll find Natsume, XSeed Games/Marvelous (USA), Marvelous (EU), and Rising Star involved in the series' release.

The latest version of the mainstream farming series that have been released in various regions of the world are:

  • Japan: Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (August 2025)
  • North America: Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home Special Edition (October 2025) and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (August 2025)
  • Europe: Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home Special Edition (October 2025) and Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar (August 2025)

The latest version of River King, in all regions of the world, is River King: Mystic Valley (JP 2007, NA 2008, EU 2009).

Since 2000, Ushi no Tane has been run by a grouchy old lady who happens to be fond of video game agriculture along with two feline helpers: Intern Captain Bootu and Intern Hondo Mewnaka. The website is not officially affiliated, sponsored, endorsed, or employed by the developers of Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, or River King. This is simply a fan site.

Marv JP and Marv US Monday Livestreams, New Farm'n Games, and a Few Indie Updates | Posted at 03:33 PM 21 August 2026

Happy Farm'n Friday! I am getting close to finishing up Moonlight Peaks. I don't expect to complete the town museum collection, but I'll get close enough. To do so, I would have to play through to spring again to get a butterfly I missed, which I didn't know that I had to chop down trees in one area to trigger its appearance. I've also bumped into a few annoying insects that should be appearing and stubbornly aren't. Then one of the festivals didn't take place (well beyond the storyline completion), yet the next day, the villagers were all chatting about how much fun they had. Felt like maybe I was the only one not invited... /whimper...

Anniversary Livestream Updates

For fans who don't want to get up at the crack of dawn to watch the Japanese livestream on Monday, August 24 (4:00 am Pacific / 7:00 am Eastern), Marvelous USA will be hosting an English-based presentation at a more reasonable 2:00 pm Pacific / 5:00 pm Eastern. The topics of the EN version haven't been revealed, but we can probably assume it will be something related to Story of Seasons and Rune Factory.

Over in Japan, Marvelous JP announced that their livestream will be presented by Neki Matsuzawa, an anime announcer and broadcaster. Guests include Shiro Maekawa (RF director), Hikaru Nakano (SoS "manager"), video game streamer Hira (a staple guest in RF presentations), and VA Shiina Natsukawa, who voices Hina in the Japanese versions of RF5 and RF: Guardians of Azuma.

Marv JP's livestream will also count down the top-50 characters from the popularity poll a few months ago. The new illustrations containing the top-5 from each series (Igusa for SoS and Minako for RF) will then be revealed at the end of the poll results.

Here we go, happy anniversaries!

Marvelous USA anniversary presentation. 2:00 PM Pacific Time, August 24

My theory for the top-5 most popular Story of Seasons characters are Cliff, Vaughn, Cam, Neil, and Lloyd. Alternates might include Martin/Marlin, Raeger, Gray, and Jules/Ivan. That's just from reviewing FOGU page traffic stats, so the data supports the hypothesis. We'll see if the fans in Japan are similar to the EN players.

New Farm'n Games

A casual crop game is coming to Steam in 2026. Indie developer Dummy Dino's game, Farm and Feast, has you growing fresh vegetables to be used at your nearby restaurant. Similar to Little Dragons Cafe, players collect ingredients for the restaurant chefs, take the customer's orders, and then deliver the finished meals to the correct table. Then head back out to the garden to water and harvest more vegetables. Mini games help to add interactivity to restaurant management.

A new dwarven-themed farming game will be launching a crowdfunding campaign soon. Hammer & Harvest: Dwarven Roots by Falcon Development (makers of Cattails and Cattails: a Wildwood Story) tasks players with rebuilding the ancient dwarven city of Gembar, lost to dragon fire long ago. The dwarven king expects you to improve the old place's artistry, economy, and community within his lofty time limits. What better way to do this than farm'n! It solves everyone's problems, don't you know!

Repair the structures of the city, raise friendships and complete requests, and ship lots of goods to please the dwarven king. The two types of farm fields - outdoor and underground - will add variety to the sold products. While traditional crops are grown outdoors, mushrooms prefer the darker fields. Even faceted crystals can be grown by mixing a bit of ground minerals and enchanted water.

Raising goats, quails, glow grubs, and wyrmlings round out the animal care. There is also fishing, resource gathering, cooking, and more.

The dwarven king will judge the town progress at the deadline, rewarding you with perks and benefits that are carried over to your next playthrough. Adjustable difficulty and time limit settings, a no-refill watering can, save anywhere, and more options allow for players to control their gameplay experience.

A demo is available now on Steam, covering 6 days of a Gembar reconstruction project, with the Kickstarter campaign scheduled to launch on September 1

Farm'n Game Updates

Pixel-based Steam farming game Cattle Country will receive a content update on August 24.. The Bandits & Bounties free expansion will bring bug fixes, quality improvements, and several new features. The town shops can now be visited by bandits (instead of the gangs popping up randomly outside), a new bag expansion and the ability to craft items from the toolbelt, more clothing and accessory options, a new fishing spot that contains all the seasonal fish, and more.

For home console farmers, the Bandits & Bounties will be released at a later date (TBA).

Having that all-year fishing hole is great, since catching all the fish is the last achievement I need to complete. Not that I'm bad at video game fishing, but there was a weird issue with one of the fish that made it very rare to catch unless you were married to a specific person.

A closed beta will take place for Kitaria Fables 2 starting next month. PQube is looking for Steam/PC, English-speaking players who can give constructive feedback to the developer. Because this is a private, closed-access beta, participants cannot share gameplay content, such as forum posts or livestreaming. Those who are interested in play testing this farming + action game can register their interest with PQube:

Until next time
