Kickstarter Updates, Latest SoS:AWL Updates, and New Farm'n Game Announced | Posted at 03:50 PM 23 September 2022

Happy Farm'n Friday! We've finally reached the autumn season, and so far, there's not much rain. It's still nice and sunny! Even the single snapdragon that sprouted from the six seeds planted mid-summer has started to bloom. It's a pretty color of burgundy red, though it looks a little spindly with just a single snapdragon in a flowerpot.

My journey through Rune Factory 5 has paused for a week or so. I'm trying to finish up the last two new pages I have planned for the Harvest Moon: One World guide - a clothing outfit page and an animal page - and then finishing up the descriptions for the bachelors' romantic events. Then I'll be ready to move on to the next project!

Kickstarter Updates

Pathea has outlined a new roadmap for their early access progress with My Time at Sandrock. In a short while, stables will be added to this game. A big update will launch in late October or early November that adds the companion pet system, house customization, new fish to catch, more interactions with villagers, functional furniture, and the ability to reply to letters received in the mailbox. The early December patch will bring in more story elements, rainy and snowy weather, a new mining dungeon, and the romance option for Doctor Fang. The multiplayer alpha is also taking place until September 26. Sandrock is expected to be in its finished form in 2023.

Coral Island is still a-go for an early access launch date of October 11. Players with alpha-access keys can start streaming and posting videos of their play through starting on October 9. Steam early-access keys will be sent via Backerkit for those who helped to fund the development of Stairway Game's tropical farming game.

The mobile land-creature farming game The Wandering Village launched on Steam early access. Stray Fawn Studios plans to have the game in early access for a year or longer while they continue to work on adding more biomes, events, and backstory.

The developer of the indie survival farming game Cloudscape released a new video dev blog about his latest progress. Fishing will require using worms for bait, but players can get free worms from cutting grass or breaking rocks. There will be 10 colors for chickens, and they must be fed and given water daily. Developer Konitama has also worked on interaction with the birds and a bell that calls the chickens to the player's location. The shipping bins can be placed anywhere on the player's island, and multiple bins can be configured to hold shipped goods for sale. Cloudscape has an estimated Steam release of next summer.

There has been a change in development studios with alien farming game One Lonely Outpost. The studio that launched the Kickstarter campaign and initialized the development, Aurorian Studios, has chosen to hand the game's future to the publisher they partnered with, Freedom Games. The reason given by Aurorian was that they started relying heavily on Freedom to support the forward momentum of the game, and it was best that they stepped aside and let Freedom take over. Some studio members will be exiting the game's development, while others will continue under Freedom Games. One Lonely Outpost is planned for a release next year.

Latest SoS:AWL News

• Our sweet Flora does not appear to be a marriage candidate, at least not at the moment. A flyer on Amazon.co.jp that I tweeted out earlier this week shows her grouped with normal villagers Vesta, Takakura, and Hugh. No marriage options for Vesta either, I guess. As we don't know everything about this recently announced remake, we've to wait and see if she's definitely out of the Blue Feather running.
• Igusa Matsuyama confirmed on the Igusa Blog that they're the graphic artist for the remake, noting that there have been several characters with major appearance changes. So far, we know that Moi changed to a flowery moss-man, Cody is more proportional and has a full head of hair instead of a mohawk, Chris wears a hip pink-plaid pantsuit instead of a skirt, and Marlin/Matthew got a new hairstyle. No sighting yet for Carter, Doctor Hardy, Daryl, Samantha, or Da-chan. We've seen Kassey on the official JP website, and it's pretty safe to assume that Patrick's updated graphics will look just like his twin brother's.
• Marvelous JP revealed on Twitter that Griffin's Blue Bar has been converted into a coffee shop called the Bluebird Cafe. Muffy/Molly still lives at the shop and works there part-time.

Marvelous EU has added a Buy The Game button to their game portal page, which opens a list of retailers in France, Spain, and the UK where farmers can preorder the game. While their preorder selection menu contains entries for "Standard Edition" and "Nintendo Switch," we don't know yet if there will be a Premium Edition or if the game will be out for other platforms. Given Marvelous' history with SoS:FoMT and SoS:PoOT, there's a good chance of both being possible.

New Farming Game

A new farming game will be coming to Steam and XBox Game Pass. Homestead Arcana by Serenity Forge and published by Skybound Games places the player in the role of a magical farming witch tasked with clearing the land of a disastrous miasma that has corrupted the area.

Growing plants on the player's homestead will power up their magic abilities and heal the land. There's also equipment and spell crafting, plus players can discover new seeds and spells by exploring the lands covered in the weird mist. There's also a cat companion! Every game is better with a cat.

Homestead Arcana does not have a defined release date at the moment.
