You have to work harder to get them or have some other setback like having to wait longer to unlock them or something, and then you have less perks from them. That's why I never went for Inari in Trio, who isn't really any harder but doesn't live with you or go to special occasions with you and stuff like that.
EDIT: I understand that some people WANT a challenge, so candidates who are harder to marry can be appealing, but I have never understood why Marvelous must make them less fun to be married to after you finally do get them. I'd want a special candidate who took longer and more work to get to have extra perks after marriage, if anything. At least not LESS. Always thought that was odd.
^ Agreed!! I'm one of those people who like a challenge, but I also like to be rewarded for the extra work and that... usually isn't the case here, aha. It can effectively push me away from the candidate as well - like, I've seen Woofio's events and grew to like him a lot, but never considered marrying him because of how lackluster it'd feel without the shared meals and other small details that are missing. I don't get why they keep doing that, honestly.
I'm glad the special candidates are still there, though! Options are always nice. Not a fan of Goddess' and Gourmet's redesigns, but Won and Kappa I love quite a bit. Curious about their marriage requirements; I'd bet Won's are still the same (that is, as normal as they get), but the other three were kinda ridiculous, I wonder if they'll make them easier, what with gaming becoming more casual in general and all that.
