It even happens with items that fall out of trees and that are given out by the villagers. Walt wants to give me one of those incense burners, and I'll find that Nooklings have it in stock, too, that day. Or if a sword falls out of a tree, even if I've never seen one in the store before, it'll suddenly be there that day or the next.
It can be kind of frustrating. It's like each day items get thrown into a rarity assigned to them. One day the ocarina will be falling out of trees, be extras that your neighbour wants to pawn off on you, and in the store, all at once. Then the next day it'll be the incense burner, and so on. The paintings feel really pointed, like Nintendo did this on purpose, lol. It happens so often that it feels like there must be some line of code in there that does this deliberately. It's like they don't want you to feel fortunate for getting lucky and finally getting something you wanted from a friend or trade. Like...ha ha, it was just going to show up in your own store next anyway, you think you're smart, but you didn't get ahead at all, neener, neener...
