im trying to see gray's purple heart event when he has a black heart. does that work?

I just restarted my game for a new start, and i decided i want to marry gray. I've done the black heart event, but i cant get purple heart event at dougs bar. why isnt it working? i go between 5-8pm on tuesdays,thursdays,saturdays and sundays and nothings happening. Help!
