Well, it's not Rune Factory 5 but Marvelous just announced "Rune Factory 4 Best Collection" and "Rune Factory 4 Platinum Collection" for an October 26th release in Japan.

While "Best Collection" is just a reprint of RF4, "Platinum Collection" is a package that includes said "Best Collection", the DS version of RF3, and an OST of both games

08/20 Update: It's not much, but they've added a comic explaining the basics of Rune Factory 4 to the official website.

09/15 Update: Marvelous has shared the 1st chapter of the Rune Factory 4+ Double Ace comic online as well.

Split the topic for new news since people are probably going to be happy to hear about something being alive on the RF front, even if it's just reprints.

Wow, Rune Factory 5 looks great! Looks a bit samey compared to 4 (I think it's a bit lazy to even copy the title too) and I would've liked some new characters but I can get down with it.

...All jokes aside, at least this is better than the series getting nothing at all recently.

Yeah I was so happy when I saw the news this morning, not just because it's nice to see any RF news but because I'm hoping it gets some new fans into the series and maybe creates some new buzz.

Still holding out hope... :)

That's really neat, thanks for sharing! Like everyone is saying, I'm happy RF is still alive. Here's hoping it will sell well!

Oh that's nice. Wonder if it's worth relighting the hope candle though...

I went to AmiAmi and all versions (except the version that's just the RF4 reprint) are already sold out. Seems like people rushed and ordered and they sold through their allotted pre-order stock insanely quick.

At least it'll get more newcomers and show they're still invested in the titles, to a degree.

conjecture
Spoiler:
I think the reasons for the delay probably has to do with some loss of resources/RF5 progress during the Neverland bankruptcy, and with the dying of the 3DS/Switch rising, they're probably wanting to figure out how to go about it.

Curious if the west will get it. I've been meaning to rebuy RF4 (lost my copy somehow) at some point, so it'd be a good opportunity. But I don't necessarily need the OSTs or the RF3 versions.

To me this feels like they're testing the waters to see if there's still interest, which since it sold out so quickly there definitely is. Fingers crossed for RF5 (probably on the Switch).

^Fingers crossed that's the case. Would be so nice.

Someone should start a hashtag like #runefactoryisalive or #rememberrunefactory. Maybe if it got popular it'd get the makers' attention...

Exciting, but the 3DS isn't really dead yet, either.

I mean, whatever the case, I'll be happy to have a RF5 at all. But I've been getting the impression that the 3DS has some life left yet.

Don't play with my heart, Marvelous! >:/

Though this could very much be a 'for the sequel' situation that SE did with Bravely Default when they reprinted it with the only intention of funding Bravely Second.

I hope anyways.

It's encouraging that it got such a positive response at least! Maybe that'll encourage them to make another game...

So will I be able to download Rune Factory 3 onto my 3ds or will the download only be for a DS?
