New this version:
4 marriage guides completed though Dorothy's could use some fleshing out.
Thanks again to Chris, DCo, and Sylve for there help on this.
I got my copy of the game today, so I hope to start expanding on the necessities. Items, menus, text options, as well as shop prices. I hope to have most if not all of that done the next couple days... though I may spend the rest of the day playing the game and trying to catch up a bit ^_^
Once again, thanks to Cher for giving me a host instead of having to rely on ugly megaupload.
First off, community support. Since many people have a very large head start on me, I'm going to be asking for information from you guys. The more I have a headstart on writing the guide, the quicker I can gather together the information everyone really wants/needs and not just the basics.
The main things I want to gather right now are quest information.
I need the quest name (preferably in Japanese, if you can't write it in japanese, give what quest number it is. That is 3rd Barret quest, 2nd Cecilia quest, etc etc)
Who it starts with
Who it ends with
What is needed to complete it
I need it to be fairly specific, and like I said, knowing the japanese name of the quest is very important, but I can end up finding that on my own if need be after I get my copy of the game in. Things like "I remember having to get X for Y and that's it" sounds nice... but it isn't too helpful in writing a guide. Try to be as organized as you can as it'll make things easier.
Anyone who contributes, will of course, be named in the guide as a contributor.

Word pad WILL work with the guide, it's just that the formatting is going to be screwed up. I wrote the initial part of the guide using it, but something I learned from my last set of guides was that word pad doesn't conform to a standard page width so different people on different computers ended up with, sometimes VERY, different formatting issues.xCrissaxUsHix wrote:i can only open it with WordPad.........^^..thanks anyway!
Microsoft Word and Open Office are recommended for viewing because all the formatting will be correct, but word pad will work fine if you don't mind the issues and don't have either of the two programs (though open office is completely free to download and use)
(edit) an example of this. Go to the character description section in Word pad and you'll see the descriptions aren't all in a neat line. Some are pushed back a little. This isn't an issue in MS word or OO and there isn't any ways for me to fix that. It's not a big deal, you can still see all of the information fine, it just doesn't look as pretty.

There are 4 caves/dungeonsMyah-san wrote:I spent the last hour or so prepping my guide for when I get the game. There is still more I can do before I do my initial release, but I figured I'd get this thread going that way I can continue the work before my game comes in friday.

What's done in my guide so far:
Controls (touch and regular)
Most of the menus (monster, key items, and skill screen I haven't done yet)
HUD (display menu)
Names/basic descriptions of most of the first generation characters
Common japanese phrases
Opening sequence (beginning questions, basic information) partially done (not descriptive, basic information needed to get started)
basically all the information I could get from pictures and that opening video I posted a couple days ago. I haven't uploaded the guide anywhere just yet because I don't have a host. I'm once again asking (begging very nicely ^_^) Cher to let me use some of her bandwidth for it.
For those curious, the guide is already 9 pages long so far and I haven't really done much with it. For comparison, my Rune Factory 1 guide was 21 pages long. I expect this guide to get to be about 25-30 pages depending on when I decide to "let go of the reins" for the players.
(edit) I lied, here it is. Untill I can find a real host, I'm going to have to use megaupload.
Version 0.00
Instructions: Enter the 3 letter code it shows on the left side of the text box. Wait 45 seconds (see where it's counting down?) then click there to download the guide. I don't recommend anyone actually do this as there isn't much to the guide yet and it's a hassle. I'm just doing this cause I'm show-offy and I like the attention. Plus it gives me some drive when people give me comments on what I have done so far.
each focus's on a specific season.
The East forest is Spring
The island is summer
The West Forest is Autumn
The Mountain is Winter
To build the school:
Marry someone then wait 15 days and your wife will have a baby ( she'll ask you what gender, the bottom choice is random )
Your wife will suggest building a school, this requires 100,000g and 1000 wood.
Each single peice of wood cuts into 3 peices
The starting tools already act like the upgraded versions in that they can break stumps/large rocks.
Skill levels have a bigger effect now. Namely, Your skill must be atleast XX to mine XX up for example.
Tools:
Hoe - start with
Watering Can - start with
Axe - complete Tonya's first quest
Hammer - accept the priests first quest ( don't need to complete it )
Sickle - Complete jakes first quest
Animal Gloves - Complete Cecilia's quest
Fishing Pole - Complete barretts first quest
Milker - complete the fat guys first quest
Clippers - complete innkeepers first quest
Heres a small quest list i posted in another topic
Unless stated, it's the characters first questFor Mana, give the item she gives to Rosalind
For the guy mana works with ( is it her dad? )
Go to the area with the Red monsters in the Spring Forest, and there's a Horn you need to take back to him. Look carefully because it blends into the ground.
For Tonya, kill 5 goblin archers ( gives an Axe )
For Tonya's second quest, kill 5 axe-wielding Goblins -REPEATABLE-
For Tonya's third quest, kill 8 axe-wielding Goblins -REPEATABLE-
For The fat guy, give him 1 rice ( Bought from the parts store, Gives Milker )
For Barrett, Go to the chapel and get the book from the floor, then give it to him. ( Gives a Fishing Pole )
For Barrett's second quest, give him one of the wood-bow looking items that drops from the goblin archers
For Roy, Give him some cloth ( drops from the red monsters in the Spring Forest, Gives a muffin )
For Julia, Give the book she gives you to Godon
For Julia's second quest, Give the knife she gives you to Tonya
For Jake, Speak to him, then to Cecilia, then go to the area in the spring forest with the Red Monsters and get the necklace on the floor. Give it to Cecilia then speak with Jake. ( Gives a sickle )
For Alicia, Speak with her, then pay her 200g
For Kanon, just answer the pattern she tells you, 4 times in a row
For Rei, give him/her one of the Weed looking things with a stem that grows on your farm
For Natalie, go to the second floor of the Viviajyu house and enter the first door on the left. Inspect the cabinet at the very back then return the item to her.
For Max, Take the spinach he gives you to Jake
For Rosalind, go to the area with the red monsters in the Spring Forest and walk to the right of the stone. You will trip and find something. Press the top option to pick it up, give this to Rosalind.
For Rosalinds second quest, don't sleep for 2 days so you get a cold ( indicated by a sun picture under your HP ) then speak with her
For Dorothy, she appears outside the Inn after taking the quest. Speak with her and she runs off. Go to the Dock and you'll find a Knife on a chain on the floor. pick this up then search for Dorothy, you will just find her walking randomly or inside a building. Give her the Knife on a chain to end her quest.
For the Innkeeper, speak with him, then pick the top answer twice. ( You get clippers for this )
For Cecilia, go to the second area of the Spring Forest and look for a ruby. You MUST NOT hurt any creatures. Return this to her. ( Gives animal gloves )
For Cecilia's second quest, Speak with her, then go to the Inn and pay the innkeeper 100g to stay the night, then return to cecilia.
For Cecilia's third quest, Speak with her, then go to the path that splits in 3 directions at 9pm that day and you will see a shooting star with Cecilia.
Tonya's second and third quests are repeatable. They never goes off the list and can be done again and again for 500g ( second quest ) and 800g ( Third quest
To build a barn get the Animal Gloves, then speak to the guy in the far west house. I believe it costs 10,000g and 100 wood
Festivals:
The first fesitval is the cherry-blossom viewing festival.
You can ask 3 girls to look at them with you.
Mana, alicia and cecilia can be found north of the fountain.
Dorothy is at the intersecion
Rosalind is on the far West of town
Not sure where the last girl is
After asking them ( top choice ) go to the cherry blossoms

thanks MyahMyah-san wrote:Thanks a lot Chris, lots of good information just the way I needed it. You'll of course be credited with it.
Even with no knowledge of reading japanese i'm doing my best.
Around the 17th of spring you'll get an event where an earthquake hits the town. It's unknown what this does yet and how to get it as some people have not gotten it while others have ( i got it )
Second festival
Talk to the fat guy and he'll tell you to press A, 20 times before the time is up
i didn't understand it so i only got 17 but i got a cucumber.
Everyone is where they were for the Cherry-blossom festival
I'm on summer 1 now and theres a festival today
Cherry blossom festival - spring 13
Second festival - Spring 25
Third festival - Summer 1
In the first room of each dungeon is a sign telling you how difficult the dungeon is.
All the dungeons in kyles story are 1 star difficulty.
Every character has atleast 10 missions ( some have more, like Mana ), a new one is available at every friendship level. Not all of these must be done in order.
A new event is available at each heart level for bachlorettes, these must be done in order ( the last mission is the proposal )

Wells, it seems like alot of the juicy information have been posted up here already, so I'll be taking care of most of the comprehension/ stuff that involves knowing Japanese. Or maybe you can call it the grunt work. lol.
Phew! Well anyways, this took a bit longer than I expected to type up! I'm not even a fourth through my whole list, but hopefully this'll be enough for now. Well, I'm sure the specific details for all these quests have been mentioned by someone here before, so I'm just gonna go post the title and descriptions for all the quests I've done.
so far.

It's great to see a compliled guide for RF2 - it really does make things alot easier.
By the way, anyone gotten any birthdays for the characters? I noticed that some characters at times tell you when their birthdays are in a normal every-day conversation (along with favorite gifts, of course). It gets added to your calendar after that event. So far, I only have the dates for Cecilia and Rosalind.
Cecilia's Birthday: Summer 12
Rosalind's Birthday: Fall 27
Well that's about it for now. If it's still needed, I'll be glad to update the Bulliten/ Quest list later.

off topic, but what did you use to take screencaps of the game? I'm confused.
Some phrases I can think of:
モンスター monster
結婚 marry
大好き like/love
春 Spring
夏 Summer
秋 Fall
冬 Winter
spring Festivals
お花見 flower viewing
早食い大会 eating contest?? what is this?
summer
海開き beaches open
モンスターかよし大会 (?)
ダンス祭 dance festival
釣り大会 fishing day?
Fall
冒険大会 (?)
収獲祭 not sure what this is...
モンスター大会
Winter
流星祭 Shooting star festival
発掘祭 Mining day? (lit. translated: excavating fossil festival?)
大晦日 New Year's eve
can anyone fill in the blanks?

DCo those are beautiful. That saves me a lot of time having to look those up myself ^_^
I'll have all of this information integrated into the guide as version .10 by tomorrow. Thank you all for helping me out, hopefully I'll be able to catch up quickly once my game is in. I feel bad just relying on all of you for the time being.
