Does raising the rank of an animal's coat have any purpose other than to win contests with coat as one of the themes? I have multiple animals with A rank coats, but I haven't seen any differences in anything.

I think it affects the star rank of your wooly friends' wool.

My max affection sheep gives me 3 star wool, so I'm pretty sure raising her coat will give me 5 star wool.

I think the coat is just for the contests. I have a llama with an E coat, Max affection and 5 star Llama wool. Affection affects the star rank. Byproduct Level affects the +products, byproduct amount is how much byproducts you get.

Someone else said this too.

Is there some reason my max affection sheep doesn't give me 5 star wool?

Why? Why would you do this to me sheep?

My alpaca is the same way, and raising it's coat made it's wool star rank rise.

...maybe... different animals are different?

That would make sense, since their byproducts are directly related to their coat irl.

Maybe it's just llamas? As the 'highest' grade fur animal.
....at any rate, if llama coat isn't tied to star like the rest of them, I'm pretty disappointed I've been feeding Sushi spicy fodder the same as Plum, my suffolk.
