I recently decided to return to Trio of Towns after last playing it at release. However, I was wondering - are there any secrets to look out for? Special events or characters to keep an eye out for? Missable events?

I looked over the Fogu guide info and there's still a few things I haven't seen yet, like Ruins Research (currently in fall first year), but I didn't know if there was any other cool secrets that I could easily miss just by playing the game regularly.

No, there's nothing missable, that you can only trigger at one specific time and then never again...like anything that expires after year one or something. There's nothing like that. Also, a really great feature of Trio that a lot of people don't seem to know about is that you can't lose FP from neglect, so you don't have to play in a rush even after all three towns open...you don't need to socialise except when you want to. :)

Thanks Kikki! Great news about the no missables, but I was hoping for a few secrets to watch out for.

It's been very refreshing replaying Trio of Towns after the disappointment of PoOT.

No problem! :) If you didn't like Olive Town on release, you may find it worth going back to by the time all the DLC (and updates/improvements) are made, but in the meantime, I hope Trio is keeping you entertained. ANB, SoS1 and Trio are all worth replaying, to me. I was replaying Trio a month or two ago and dropped it due to life stuff in general, but it was fun!

The only things you can 'miss' in Trio are not permanently missable. Things like not getting enough sweet potatoes in Year 1 to finish a goal and then having to wait until Year 2 to get them. Inconvenient, but not a permanent problem. I can't think of anything that you only get one chance at.

I do intend to pick up Olive Town eventually, though. Kinda thinking I'll wait until September-November, when real life starts to wind down into a long, cold, dark season and I can't enjoy real life farming any more. I think the 1.0.5 update will be a pretty huge improvement even if they were to only add the minimum to dialogue and makers. Until then, Trio's a great option; come back any time if you have any questions that the guide doesn't cover. :)
