I'm interested in trying out River King since it's a bit related to Harvest Moon. Fishing's cool and RPGs are cool so River King has to be cool, right? Which would be the best game in the series to play? Which one provides the best gameplay experience?

River King: A Wonderful Journey (Ps2) if you can find it.

I don't have a PS2. :( Is Mystic Valley any good? Or should I just try and find one of the Gameboy ones?

I enjoyed Mystic Valley a lot but so far I only have two of the RK games so I don't really know how it stacks up to the rest of the series. There are a lot of fish to catch but there aren't very many story based quests (I'm not sure is "quest" is the right word but I don't know what to call them) so if you feel done with a game once the plot is over you might find it pretty short.

Considering I play Animal Crossing, short plot (or no plot) isn't a big deal for me. Looks like I'm off to track down a copy of River King: Mystic Valley! Thanks for the suggestions!

I think getting the first one on 3DS VC is a good idea. That's what I started with, and I loved it. And it's only 5 dollars, so if you don't like it you won't have lost too much money. :)
