[UPDATE]

GUYS THE KICKSTARTER IS LAUNCHED!!! :D

Lots more information & updates at the kickstarter! Please share & Pledge with as many people as you know! every pledge really counts a lot and we need your support to make this happen! Woooh!

Hi Guys!

so I own a small studio with local industry veterans and AMAZING artists. We recently decided to move forwards in developing our own HM game. We plan to officially announce the title on monday, and run a kickstarter in a few weeks time.

We really want to get the community involved, and I absolutely love the what make an HM game thread somewhere else in this forum.

We really want to make a game that HM fans will enjoy, and we hope to get lots of similar input from the community as we make the games! I'll post any updates here so you guys can stay up to date! for now I'll just leave this little teaser to whet your apetites!

What do you guys think?

{UPDATE Sept 24 2013}

Okay so here is a poll for you guys for your first update! Please vote to see what we reveal first! :D

[UPDATE October 2 2013 Maps]
To our dedicated fans here at FOGU! Time for your next update!

As requested here are some images of Demo Town. Now its extremely important to mention the following.

1. The actual EVERYTHING will be several times larger. The town, the farm, the farming area, and the surrounding area & forest! This was designed simply to give an idea of the art and play style. That having said, as mentioned we were inspired by older games, and opted for an overhead 2d approach. However we decided to modernise it with a slightly more vibrant art style remeniscient of games like Zenonia. For those who are mobile skeptics, I reccomend checking it out. I feel its a game that has done a great job of making games like these work on mobile (and for those of you who have not heard, Apple is also launching a game-pad for IOS games).

However we also chose this style, because games of this style, just play so well on other handheld devices such as the 3DS, PS vita and others, yet remain accessible for bigger consoles such as the Xbox, PS and PC.

So what do you guys think?

For our next update I think we'll start disclosing a little bit more about the planned features! :D

here is also a small FAQ in anticipation of some of the questions that may be asked :)

Why have you chosen this art style?

We chose this art style, because we wanted something that would allow us a certain degree of artistic freedom, but remain accessible and vibrant on mobile platforms. We feel we have not only managed to achieve that, but also an art style that will continue to be stunning in any other platform we release the game on, be it the PS Vita, Tablets, PC, etc.

The farm looks tiny! Why is it so small?!

As mentioned previously these maps are not indicative of the final layouts of the game. We fully intend the farm, town and forest maps to be at least 4 times bigger than what is displayed in these images.

I like the chickens!

Thank you! So do we!

What is the thing in the forest?!

Stay tuned to find out more ;)

Sounds good but maybe you should move this to the All Other Harvest Moon section so more people can see it. But how is it meant to be a HM game? I mean do you need the rights or something?

I wasnt too sure where to post it seeing as how this is not actually a Harvest Moon Game. Its heavily inspired by the series, but its our own unique IP :)

(how can I move it to all other harvest moon?)

That is ability is restricted to mods.
What is appropriate is to contact one of the mods to request it be moved into the right section.
However, it seems one of them has already done that.

As for your game, how is it like HM?
Your graphic suggests there will be farming and ranching, but will that be the only thing?
Or are there other things, such as relationships, that are also inspired from HM?
And you said it was a unique IP, so what kind of things separates it from it's inspiration?

Also it is the afternoon(or close to it if you live in PST) of 16th, and I don't see any info on your game on any of your channels.
So is that not going to be posted until later into the day, or is on a different venue than those provided in the graphic?

Wow, that is rather rude, fishy.

I asked a lot of direct questions.
But they were centralized around getting a feel for what the OP plans to do with the game.
So that I could give proper suggestions that seem to fit with their plan.

But to add another question to my former ones, given your previous game, is this new project also going to be an app game, or will you offer it on other locations, such as on Steam or possibly even as a digital download on a handheld system(As Hometown Story has done)?
As what you are hinting at seems rather ambitious for a mobile game, and more akin to what would be seen on a handheld or indie computer game.

Also, I would like to reiterate my question as to where the reveal of this game was?
The only mentions I can seem to find of it, other than your graphic, are here and a mention of it under the name "Codename: Rake" on your forums.
And that only is asking for suggestions for the game.
It doesn't have any details on the nature of the game.
In fact, you revealed more here, in the fact that you said it would be based on HM, than you did on your own page.
So did it reveal somewhere else or did your reveal get delayed?

Okay wow, lots of questions,

firstly my apologies for the delay in the official announcement, we had some minor issues with our social media management software and I got preoccupied sorting that out I was not able to make the announcement (we're a small indie studio so I handle all administrative matters).

We are initially targeting mobile devices, IOS, Android, WP8, BB10. However we do not aim to stop there. Ideally if we reach our funding targets on kickstarter, we want to have it on everything. PS Vita, PSN for PS4, XBOX Live, Steam for PC, OUYA and any other android handsets, for this matter we are using the Unity engine as it is extremely flexible.
Also, I would like to reiterate my question as to where the reveal of this game was?

As mentioned earlier the reveal got delayed. We purspusefully kept it discreet on the website as we wanted to do a pre-announcement on the HM Community forums. Once we have announced it here in the forums, the website will be updated to reflect the fact that we have announced it.

No Ranching and Farming will not be the only thing. We are putting a strong emphasis on what you can do outside of just farming and ranching. We particularly want to aggressively focus on the relationship angle of one of the pillars of the game. Although similar in some respects, we intend this to be one of our unique features in comparison with HM. We want a slightly more realistic approach, and much deeper character development and relationship building

In addition to that we aim to include lots of side things to do. Whilst this is also doable in HM we have lots of unique side activities to consume your time.

Finally we also aim to introduce slightly more mature theme's than the HM series (not like adult themed but enough to provide slightly more depth to the characters)

Hope that answers your questions :)

Even as an indie studio, you may wanna consider a social media manager. If Marvelous doesn't slap you with a C&D, little games like this live and die off community.

I like the look of the MCs and I think the name is very nice.

Now that you've announced the project I'd suggest changing the title of the thread. I imagine something like "Wild Season (a Harvest Moon inspired project)" or something would probably attract more interest than the current title.

Yes I wanted to do that, but I'm not very familiar with the tools in this forum :(. If some indication as to how I could do that could be provided i'd be much appreciative :)

I'll admit, I was a little skeptical at the vague idea previously introduced. But after reading the replies concerning gameplay & seeing the artwork of the promotional picture, I'm truly intrigued. I'll be happy to follow the progress of this game
