Poll - Hoe or watering can?

So I'm currently playing Light of Hope (and loving it). I'm just about to get the last watering can upgrade and I was wondering in what order you do the upgrades. I do the hoe first, then the watering can, simply for the fact that when I upgrade the hoe, my mining improves, making it easier to upgrade my tools.

Between those two I always do the watering can first. In any game.

This is the only HM game -- and I use the term VERY loosely -- I've played in which I would answer that question by choosing hoe. This game clearly deemphasizes farming as a source of income, whereas the better hoes can get you super-valuable ore that will more than pay for anything you want or need.

Watering can. I have an obsessive need to collect all crop mutations and the watering can makes that happen faster than the hoe does.

It depends on where I am in the story and season. The first season I am trying to complete the main story and get as many mutations as possible so I generally upgrade my watering can technically before my hoe. Realistically, I do them at the same time so I am not sure it really counts. In my opinion, there is quite a bit of emphasis on farming because of all the mutations. To be able to get the seeds in Sam's or Carol's store you have to grow so many crops. I have made on average 20k in the summer from watermelons alone trying to get the mutations. Not to mention all the cabbages I have to grow at the beginning of spring to rebuild all the houses/shops even before I get access to mine. The earliest you get access to the mine is Spring 8 and I repaired all the shops/houses except Doc's, Gareth's and Tabitha's before I even made it in to the mine to get Gus on the 8th all thanks to the 300+ cabbages I grew in that first week.
