Happy 2020 gaming everybody! I am hoping that I can complete the majority of my backlog this new year before getting many more games, but we'll see how that goes, lol.
Now playing:
Spoiler:
Dragon Quest Builders 2 - Got it back from my brother and had to get more building done.
Link's Awakening - Stuck at the fish dungeon boss but plan to pick it up soon.
Monster Hunter Stories - Working on the desert section.
RiME- Just started.
Little Dragons Cafe - Just started and really love the art. Cute game so far.
Wii Fit and Fitness Boxing - Need to get back into the groove of fitting them in to improve my crazy mornings.
Yoshi's Island- Need to prove to my SNES era self I can finish it. Stuck at the castle with the gooey/fuzzy blob boss that keeps bumping me off the platform.

Back Burner:
Spoiler:
Lumo
Lego Worlds
Twilight Princess
AnWL
Pokemon Sword
Mario Maker
Smash Ultimate Story mode
Submerged
Mario and Luigi Paper Jam
Probably others I have forgotten.

Really looking forward to Animal Crossing NH and SOS: FOMT coming this year. :)

Rune Factory 5 (Switch; 2020)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Hou (Switch) (Japanese only)
My Time At Portia (Switch)

Robotics; Notes Dash (confirmed for the West)
Yo-kai Watch 4 (Switch; confirmed for the West)
Summer Pockets (Confirmed English-language version for PC coming in 2020)
Rewrite+ (PC)

Games beat in 2019: 10

Games bought in 2019: More than 10+

So, I bought Ring Fit Adventure for my Switch 2 days ago and love it. I bought it for myself with Christmas money. It's pretty challenging, and, being physically disabled, I'm glad there were easier modes available and that I'm able to play it.

I just beat the main story of Pokemon Shield, so I'll be putting it on the back burner for a while. I don't know what I'm going to play next. I never beat Phase 1 of Ciconia When They Cry, but I might want to focus on all my Switch games first.

I have over 70 games I haven't beat on Steam, and over 60 on Switch. LOL, I need help.

I know you're not supposed to put previous years' games in your backlog, but I'm going to do it since there's so many.

Games beaten in 2020: 0

Games bought in 2020: At least 2 ( of those with confirmed release dates)

Woo! A new year for gaming backlog! I have decided to do the Backlog Blitz method, so hopefully I can get a lot done this year! I'm off to a decent start I would say?

Backlog Blitz: 0

Games Completed: +1

~ Home

Games Purchased: -1

~ The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince

Still plugging away at Pokemon Picross and Harvest Moon 2, so hopefully those will be done soonish! I only have one DEFINITE buy for 2020 and that is Animal Crossing: New Horizons! We will see if anything else is tempting enough or cheap enough to get me to buy it lol

I'm still carefully using Ring Fit every day, except during cramps, since that makes them worse. :? I keep my between day light...but every day is just flat out better for keeping a schedule, for me. Even if I only use it for one world (like...1 to 5 minutes) on the between days.

I've also started playing Torchlight II a little more in-depth. I don't like the way enemies burst into bloody chunks, but it's very tiny on the screen...you can't see it well. (I don't have a large television.) I finished the first area...the first 'story arc' has three sections, as far as I can tell. So at best, I'm around 10 to 12% finished the game, I think. I hadn't entirely realized that it had a true ending, but I looked up the game progression, and it does. So I guess it is actually 'finishable'. And being a dungeon-crawler, it's pretty easy, if sometimes tedious. The sound effects are highly nostalgic for me, though, and that's nice. I am already very tired of undead, though. I hate undead. I hope the next area has more monsters and less skeletons and shambling things. (EDIT: Act 1 had less than I thought. I finished it. Guess I'm about 20% done the game?)

Not sure what I'll play after this, or if I'll mix some other game in (since it's easy to get tired of playing Torchlight II) but...maybe Wandersong or Cook, Serve, Delicious 2. Or both. Surprisingly, the average time to complete CSD2 the standard way is about 40 hours. I had no idea it was so long! Torchlight II take around 30 hours (shorter than I thought) and Wandersong around 10. Though I usually take longer to complete really short indie games, for some reason. Guess we'll see, but those three sound possible to work on all at once, even though I usually stick to one game at a time.

~

There probably won't be any purchases for me in January, unless I decide to go for the Atelier Dusk games, but I hope to complete 1-3 games this month, and as many more in February. I will probably buy Two Point Hospital in February, unless RF4S comes out around the same time. I feel pretty awful today...not sure if I'll be able to log much gaming time.

~

Also, I'm paying as much attention to it as I can, but if from now on I miss typing a lot of Ses, please just overlook it. My laptop keyboard isn't working right and the S in particular needs to be pressed 4-5 times just to get it to work once. :x

I know you probably dont need me to toot Wandersong's horn again, but it's a wonderful game!

So, this is my basic plan with my backlog;

I want to get through the Realm Reborn content of FFXIV before my timecard runs out (which I think is the 27th of Jan?) and I believe I'm going to do that in good time. I'm level 40 right now, have 2 crystals left to collect and considering base game's level cap is 50, I can probably finish that part of the story in a few days. I am just... SO distracted by quests...! ANYWAYS, once my timecard is up, regardless of where I'm at, I'll be taking a break to finish Ni No Kuni II and start/finish Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

I'll have to see where I'm at after that, where the month is and what releases are around the corner. The Grisaia Trilogy is a highly acclaimed VN series that I do want to experience, but it might be a mood thing before I start it. SaGa Scarlet Grace is beautifully fascinating, but I'd like to see more info on how my decisions weigh on the campaign, because I have no idea what I'm doing half the time. Animal Crossing I'll just be doing whatever, so it wont be in my backlog.

Everything else is up in the air until I fill in the blanks with series or release dates get announced. Regardless, I need to finish my PS4 backlog before the end of this year just in case the PS5 isn't back gen, because the hubbo wants one real bad.

Wow, it's really easy to stop doing your daily grinds you set yourself when a game is kind of boring? So I'm playing Animal Crossing Wild World, AWL, and Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth. Wild World and Digimon I have no problems with, but I guess it's how I'm playing AWL.

All I'm doing is taking care of my cows and talking to Celia and my son before falling asleep It shouldn't take this long to finish, but the days seem to drag on and on and make me long for AnWL and even AWLSE since they reduced the number of years each chapter has.

I'm playing through two months of AWL each day until Tokyo Mirage Sessions comes out and I should be done with it. Don't get me wrong; I like AWL enough with this cast of characters being my second or third favorite (it's a tossup between this set and ToT/AP's cast) and nostalgia since this is my first Bokujou Monogatari game when I started the series. I just never finished this one.

Wild World is going great; at the rate I'm going I should be done way before New Horizons comes out. Digimon, not so much. Work and my dailies are keeping me from getting to it and finishing it; I just reached Chapter 7 today though.

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! 's controls are ridiculously complicated. Hold down one rear shoulder button or the other, scroll up and down, press X Y A B to select, release shoulder button and press A to turn the page if the ingredient you want is not on the first place, then re-press ZL and select from the second page...press ZR to select a recipe for the holding station, then XYAB to choose the recipe...then go back to choosing ingredients...argh.

Not something I can tolerate, in a time-management type of game. I have a headache so that's probably making it worse, but this may be a game I recommend to my baby sis and sign off on it after that. I'll try it one more time, but it's not looking good...looks like more stress than fun. Time-management games usually teeter on that balance rather precariously. Plus who the heck needs a time-management game about making a food/restaurant to take 40 hours to get through? I thought this would be a bit more casual and thus shorter. I'm used to time-management games being more about clicking things simply in the right order, but not having to do entire series of button combinations to get them done. This probably plays better on PC. (Not that I've tried it that way.)

I'll have another go when I don't have a headache. Meanwhile I'll email my sister and tell her to download it off my account so she can try it. She's got a much better short-term memory than I do. I tend to have to re-learn the control scheme of any game I play each time I go back to it, lol.

@Ronin19 I had this issue too until later on in my first play with the psvita version, the simple solution is to just put your digimon on the islands and leave the game active (make sure sleep mode is set to never in the settings) while you're at work/sleeping, a large part of the grinding goes away just by letting things happen and just checking up on it long enough to evolve/devolve any digimon that need to do so (which takes 3-5 minutes) and let it stew again, I also just leave a platinum numemon in my party so I have one digimon in the party (or one of the royal knights nx). This game really thrives on just leaving it alone to do it's stuff so that way you can play more smoothly throughout the chapters.

Hit day 7 of Ring Fit today, which was nice. :) Day 7 always feels good to say. (Starting to burn more calories too. :D) Muscle soreness is starting to subside...which I think is about right for me, now that I think of it.

It's still really dorky, but engaging enough to keep me coming back. I get to start World 4 tomorrow, so there's that.

I've played a little more of Stephen's Sausage Roll yesterday and today after working out, and I'm making progress but it's painfully slow. I'm down to the last few puzzles in this first area, and they all make me feel stupid. I'm sure I'll get there, though. After an hour I finally figured out one that had been stumping me. Slowing brain rot, one puzzle at a time.

Between the two I think I'll be busy for a while.

Luckily I can put the Switch to sleep and it works the same way.

@kikki I'm so glad you are still able to do Ring Fit consistently! I'm sure it helps even if you have to go easy the 2nd day. Also what a weirdly complicated control scheme for that other game! Why would they do that?

@mikodesu congrats on reaching day 7! I need to get back into it tomorrow lol

Completed another game! I've been streaming for friends and that seems to make it easier to find the motivation to get through games. I played and finished Ittle Dew. I was very cute, funny, and enjoyable. I have some more to do to get all the cards and more achievements, but main story is done! \o.o/ Still working on Harvest Moon 2 and am in Summer of year 2. Slowly but surely lol

Thanks; it's going very well, honestly. I feel quite a bit better when consistently doing Ring Fit. Just the habit of starting it up and doing even ONE world/level (though I always do several on my 'main' days) reminds me to do other things, as well, like stretch more and drink more water. Good for mood, and very nice for basic function, like having to repeatedly squat down to get stuff off the lowest shelf in the grocery store (sometimes the items being heavy, like a tray of cans). Seems to slowly improve your posture, too. Good stuff, and quite demanding, but held to short sessions...it really seems to work out well for me. :)

Though today on Ring Fit, Ring told me that 'desires are always personal, but dreams involve others'. Which I totally disagree with. That definition is so arbitrary! You could easily define the two in reverse. :?

CSD2...I suspect that the reason the controls are (what I consider to be) overly complicated on Switch is that it is actually a PC/Steam game, where you could control everything with clicks of the mouse, not with buttons. I think it'd work better on Switch if it was controlled by touch-screen. At least for my liking, it would.

~

Torchlight II is proceeding well. I'd like to finish Act 2 today, but I doubt that's possible since I'm only about a quarter of the way into it.

I got to Chapter 4 in AWL. Even though I have beaten AnWL and AWLSE, I've never gotten to this point in the original. Feels new though. I had a daughter with Celia in AWLSE, so maybe that's why.
