Hi!

In case there is any fan around here of the Suikoden series, here is this information, either to simply find out about the game or who want to participate in founding the project:

News in Gematsu: https://www.gematsu.com/2020/07/suikode ... tch-and-pc

I'm actually super excited for this and am already backing it! I never played the Suikoden series myself, but I always wanted to + have read up on some of the games and heard tons of good things about it. It's also a pretty impressive cast of people who are working on this game, and it really does look both nostalgic and gorgeous from what we've seen so far.

I'll probably buy this game when it is complete and out, but I won't back it. I've had a handful of Kickstarter experiences, and none of them were...great. I never got completely ripped off, but I feel I would have enjoyed the game more if I had NOT been a backer for them and been following them for so long in advance. I find it more enjoyable and creates less bad feeling in me to just wait for the game to be done before I think about buying it.

I've already told a friend about this game from last week or whenever Gematsu first posted news so I'm definitely interested in it, but...I may never be a backer for a game again, tbh. Doesn't work out well for me.

Kaiyumi! I'm super excited too! It amazes me that you have never played the game and yet you are a backer. Interesting. In my case, I have played this series and it is seriously worth it for me.

Kikki, currently I have heard a lot of stories or experiences like yours, they are seriously scary!

The good thing is that the game has already been founded, now it is a competition for goals hahaha

I enjoyed playing the Suikoden series when I was young but I would probably wait for the release date before buying. Even though I back up some games and some of them delivered so far, I have limit myself due to the situation and I've not been playing much games with a gender locked male protagonist for a while so I better wait and see if by then I've changed my preference.

@Areli - Haha, is it strange? I think I've only ever backed one small Kickstarter before, but given the people working on this game, what I've seen, and what I know of the former games, I'm looking forward to seeing this one hopefully flourish.

They've really gone far past their initial goal though; I just hope that, unlike many other developers, they don't get overwhelmed with the promises of bonus content and focus on the core game first. I don't think that that'd be too much of a worry though given their track record + the fact that so many of the newer goals/tiers are quick little bonuses (i.e. adding your cat to the game LOL)

Edit - Also, ngl, a large reason I backed it was because I think they have Motoi Sakuraba on for the music, and both the Golden Sun and Tales of the Abyss OSTs have very nostalgic memories for me.

cinnamon_yuki, I also get to enjoy the series a lot and although your preferences do not change in the future, there will surely be other games that you can enjoy. It's the good thing that the games don't stop coming out haha

It's true Kaiyumi, the people behind the game are renowned in that genre and it shows they have been doing their investigative homework as well. And yes, I agree with you, that doesn't worry me either.

Golden Sun, I also liked that music very much, it is curious that to date I only listen to one piece and it reminds me where they used it and the history. Let's see what new memories it will allow us to build!

This series is now the 3rd highest funded video game Kickstarter of all time, which is pretty crazy, but I'm so pleased that they've found so much support and success!

They're also doing a stream in 5 hours for when the Kickstarter officially closes, and one of their special guests is Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame which is...honestly super exciting to me, LOL. I wonder if he's going to be doing any of the music for the game, because between him and Motoi Sakuraba, the OST will have so much potential...

And it is the best, everything indicates that it will not be just a game, but that it will become a series! And also to be able to place among the first 3 is an achievement, it makes me very happy.

Since the stream that will cover the last 4 hours of the kickstarter begins shortly, we may find out more details there. And who knows, maybe your suspicion could be reality.
