Yeah, I had a feeling it was Marvelous who was making this game. The cow was a dead give away.

Ridiculously excited for SMRPG, I thought we’d never see it again. 😭 I always hope to see new Mario & Luigi games in these, but I play those wishing they were SMRPG anyway. I have the VC release on Wii, and I played it twice recently (and the SNES one every week for years)… I know it will be the same and I don’t really care about remasters, but SMRPG!!!!

It was a good Direct! Really excited for the SV DLC, which I thought was coming later. Silent Hope… maybe. I’ve played DQM and not clicked with it before… even V, which I otherwise loved, had the monster recruiting system I wasn’t into. But I may be in a DQ mood and give a (much) newer version a try.

Every time I hear that DQ music, my heart leaps, because I'm thinking Dragon Quest Builders 3. It is the ONLY DQ game I am interested in. (I tried DQ 10 and it was...okay. But I really hate turn-based combat. The more classic it is, the more I hate it, and DQ is practically gold-standard in the turn-based world.)

Then my heart drops again, because it's never Builders, lol. I think there's probably no hope of DQB3. For some reason, Square Enix is having a go at their own spin on every popular genre (Minecraft becomes DQB, Harvest Moon/SDV becomes Harvestella, and Pokemon becomes DQM. I have no idea what Dragon Quest Treasures was aiming for.) and I think they tend to do well. But even so, they don't continue with it once they believe they got it right, is what it feels like. Like they were just trying to see if they COULD do these other genres well, and once they prove they can, they shrug it back off, lol.

As someone with no interest in Mario games, this Direct was not aimed at me, personally, but it was a good overall show, I thought. I might be interested in Silent Hope, and I think I'm interested in the Star Ocean 2 remake, since I always hear 2 was the best of the series, plus I like the world/landscape art and the portrait art. Thinking about it. Not a terrible show, even for me, and all round probably a pretty good showing. I'm aware I'm in a niche of my own, lol...my standards for a good show have to be less personal or I'd call almost all of them bad. But Nintendo games tend to be colourful and cute so even if I'm not interested, the Directs are nice to watch.
