This is definitely coming out this year. The New Years poster + the "2024 is the year of the dragon, and they say big changes will occur. This will become a very important year for Rune Factory: Project Dragon." quote from the series director in the latest Famitsu issue. Next year will be quite big for Marvelous; new RF, new Daemon x Machine and most likely new SoS as well.

Hmm... the rumors of the successor for the Switch have been heating up as well. I think it is possible we could see Rune Factory Project Dragon, and the new Deamon x Machina as either a launch or cross-gen titles for the Switch and its successor. It is actually kinda funny because if I recall correctly wasn't Deamon x Machina a launch title for the Switch.

Wouldn't be surprised if Daemon x Machina is once again a launch title. I have a feeling Marvelous will be the one publishing it this time around and not Nintendo since Nintendo was probably disappointed with the sales. RF Project Dragon will definitely be a cross gen title though, even the next SoS.mario_0345 wrote: ↑Jan 06, 2024 9:26 pm Hmm... the rumors of the successor for the Switch have been heating up as well. Found this on timeline, the unannounced "series title" could very much possibly be RF Project Dragon. It adds up with the recent trademarks. The brand-new title could possibly be their new farm sim Farmagia they just trademarked. No clue where Daemon x Machina lies on all of this.
If such is truly the case, the release time-frame between October 2024 and March 2025 arises so many possibilties. They could show this off at the Nintendo Direct next month and have a set release for late 2024 or wait a little to launch it alongside Nintendo's next gen console.
On a side note, I went onto further check the FY report and it seems they've shared their plans on how many games they will release each FY year.
Spoiler:
Late 2024/Early 2025 - RF Project Dragon
Mid/Late 2025 - Next SoS game
Mid/Late 2026 - RF6

I'm trying not to be hyped, since they'll need to officially announce it, then promote it, then release it, then release it in English... but I am kinda intrigued by another Rune Factory side game. Frontier & Tides were huge favorites.
I was a little worried due to their announcement that the new games underperformed (poor Loop8 and Frederica), and that presumably development costs were up vs. worse profit on their games. Hopefully that doesn't lead to cut corners in development. I'll probably buy and play Farmagica, or whatever the new farming game will be for them, but I worried the market is pretty saturated if they continue down that path. I bought them, but still haven't played Silent Hope/Frederica (accidentally bought that one twice, actually), Rune Factory 3, or SE's Harvestella. There are just a lot now!

I was replaying RF4 and this popped in my mind. Here's what I think about this entire game now.
I don't know what exactly Marvelous wants to achieve from this game but to me, it seems like they want to release this alongside Nintendo's next console so the early adopters can look at this game and go: "woah this looks very similar to Genshin, I should get it!". Yes, Genshin didn't invent cell shaded anime graphics but the entire look is very similar and I think it's intentional for marketing purposes.
There's not much to dissect gameplay wise. I don't know why Marvelous is even teasing this when they have nothing substaintial to show. But visually, this game is devoid of personality. I didn't like how RF5 looked but I could get behind its art direction. This? It feels way too generic.
