Ahh, so true! I didn't understand all the hype when Blaze was first introduced, and now she is such a main character (Sonic 06, Rush Adventure, S+M Olympics, Sonic and the Black Knight, and SRZG). Even though she has a super form.Koneko Mizuki wrote:I loved Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic Rush, the old Sonic Adventure games, the one Sonic battle game for the Gameboy Advance...
I can't play them anymore, though, simply because I can't keep track of all the characters they're introducing. xD It's like, five more each game. A bit confusing.
AND SILVER. He's pretty okay, I guess, but I don't understand why they're not really promoting him. I mean, if any new character should be added to more games, it should be him.
Chip is most likely not going to appear anymore, like Shahra and Erazor Djinn and all those little buggers xD And the Black Arms... and Shade, and...Emerl?

I stopped playing the new Sonic games, but I did love the older ones up to SA2. I was a huge fan of Sonic and he was a sort of Hero of mine to look up to as I was a small child. Being Sonic's first game was released in 1991 and I am only 18, it's obvious that I wasn't a fan at the very beginning.(Is there a year old who plays video games?) It was really the character, the personality that I grew to love. His shows, games, movies. They were fantastic because of that independent and strong personality he had.
As soon as Heroes hit the shelves, he started to take a downfall and honestly, he is just not the same. It's like a complete flip and if the old Sonic and new Sonic were to meet they would end up fighting with each other. In Heroes, he was all about "Teamwork" and then new characters like Silver(seriously, this character was made by a seven year old and it's OBVIOUS), Blaze, and many many others. It's just hard to play these games because it's not the same Sonic that I looked up to. If you watch his old cartoons, like AOSTH, and about when he is a Freedom Fighter, or even read the comics. That is the Sonic I thought was great.
The new show, Sonic X does show /more/ of his personality than some of the games. However, the freedom fighter whom was stuck on Mobius with Sally Acorn, Rotor, Bunny Rabot, and then there was Manic his brother and sister Sophia; what was wrong with them? They were great characters IMO.
If Sonic returned to his normal self(No werehog, no shadow mode; he really doesn't need to have a knight form and such. Super Sonic was enough.) then I would feel inclined to play those games. I guess I am weird like that, but if you imagined your role-model as a child completely changing perhaps you'd understand how much it'd hurt to see it. Even if it is a fictional character.

Ahh... I understand what you're getting at. I kinda grew up watching and knowing Sonic as well (Not the comic series and the TV series, except for Sonic X), but I guess I'm kind of clinging to false hope that they'll rejeuvenate the series. I just can't admit that the Sonic series is failing after SA2, even though I assumed that I enjoyed some of the games after.
Hmm.. now that I think about it, SA2B (Since I never had a Dreamcast) was pretty much the only game that I had actually enjoyed, along with SADX. When you went through the stages, it wasn't just random running or finding emerald shards, you actually knew that you had to get somewhere, like seeing the way off of Prison Island in SA2/ SA2B.
Ahh.. sorry if I was being a little blind to how different the newer games are!

Sonic should go die in a hole. He's like the Michael Jordan of video games. Once a great star, now a low celebrity desperately trying to make a comeback in an age where no one cares about him anymore. By trying to be new and different, he's making himself worse. Sonic started getting « Cow Poopy » when he made the transition from 2D to 3D. Now I do admit the possibility of a good Sonic 3D game isn't impossible, Sonic Adventure did 3D quite adequately, but after that it was just one bucket of « Cow Poopoo » after another. Now if 3D wasn't enough, it wants to do dual-world gameplay trying to be "cool" like Metroid or Legend of Zelda instead its dousing fire with gasoline, the night time events are just like « Harvest Goddess » of War except minus the fun. Neglostia is the only reason why Sonic even exists anymore, and thats a fact.

Sonic DX was...just...awful. Especially their aluminum foil teeth and how their mouth movements failed to resemble the actual words. xD
I hate all the new, confusing character additions, too.
In this video-gaming world of confusing plotlines, villains upon villains, gorgeous graphics, and truckloads of characters, I'm not ashamed to say that it would please me to no end to see Sonic, by himself, zipping along those 2D speedways with the little flowers and checkered tiles of loops, and that's pretty much the game.

How very true! It was just one of the first games that I ever played, so I kind of ignored the flaws. Isn't it possible to switch the language feature so that they're speaking japanese, though? I don't remember, since it was so long ago that I played it xDKoneko Mizuki wrote:Sonic DX was...just...awful. How we all miss the classics. The pixelated flowers, trees, and flying bees that shot...stuff at you. I have no way to play those games though, unless I get SADX again xD
I really want to try the original Sonic Adventure though. How I wish I had a Dreamcast. Aren't they a bit hard to find now?
dreamcasts aren't the easiest things to find, no. i had to hunt like crazy for mine (since we sold the one we had back in the day). if you have a store near you that sells a lot of used games or specializes in used games, that's the place to go. i got mine at dimple records, but i have no idea if there is one near you, since it is a regional thing.
even their newer attempt at a 2D sonic game was phail. how could they mess that up? even the really lame game gear ones were better than that (and not for nostalgia, since i never even had those as a kid, even if nostalgia would have been a factor, anyway).
agreed 100%.Sniper Wolf wrote:Sonic should go die in a hole. He's like the Michael Jordan of video games. I just got Sonic Unleashed yesterday and it is not the controls its that there are to many ways to move. People liked the old sonic and it only used 1 dang button bring the 1 button days of Sonic back is what I think Sega should do next is what I said so Sega tried to bring the simple Sonic back with the seven rings and they failed.
I think what we need to do is stop comparing the New Sonic to the old one the Little happy sonic has been replaced by a green eyed 3 dimensional character and we need to realize that. Mario hit off good with he 3D genre and I think that's why were all yelling at sonic for not being as successful as we want him too be.
I love all the sonic games if you people be haters then stop buying them and stop your whining it bothers the people who do like them.
Also if you liked Chaos try the A-life system in NiGHTS its not as good as the Chaos but the garden is bigger there's more toys and you can go over Wi-Fi and visit other peoples Dream worlds.

Aah, Sonic, I remember that game! It was excellent :3 I haven't played them in ages so I can't say I've seen a major difference. I think, for most, we're just being picky. We expect that the company that makes Sonic can read our minds and want everything we want there to be, in there. No glitches, just the perfect game xD... Ugh, I hate it when I get side-tracked and I've now lost my point ._. « Cow Poopoo »
The Chao gardens rocked xD I remember sneaking onto my bro's gamecube to play one of the sonic games with Chao in and all I can really remember is going in there all the time, cause I loved 'em and watching them walk and around and fall off the edge, me being all like 'Nuuuuuu, cute little creature, dun die D;' but then they'd just come back and I'd be pleased XD

seven rings was really horrible. i don't see any resemblance to the old games at all.
one of the great things about the old games was that you could either take your time and explore a level and find all the powerups and all the hidden secrets or speed through a level and get the highest time score possible. you could see everything and you had great control over what you did. since there were 2 or 3 "acts" on the same course, you had sufficient time to take in those surroundings and layout styles without getting bored from repetetion because they kept it fairly short and made each act different. even in the sonic adventure games on dreamcast, in which you had more set tasks to do, you could employ similar tactics.
in seven rings, you were forced to run constantly and had to do pointless tasks in a level, and then when finished with that pointless task, you had another pointless task to do in the same course, so you were basically playing the same level over and over and it got very tedious and boring. it didn't help that the controls weren't the best with the wiimote, so sonic was difficult to control.
i think that they should stop making sonic games that are so complicated. you don't need all the extra elements. we don't need a whole bunch of new characters every game. we want simple, straightforward gameplay that is enjoyable.
