Well, in order to get there, you have to be able to be at a good level. I was level 13 (total, Fishing skill was around 22) and I was like "monsters!" and one hit from one of them knocked my HP bar halfway down. I ran.

Could someone tell me how I get Royal Curry for Rosalind? It says for me to go talk to Max when he is in his room, but I'm not sure when he is in his room to find out.

Max is usually in his room after 5 PM on non-rainy days, rainy days which is around 9 PM.
There is one day where he retires to his room a bit later, but I don't remember. Having 3 hearts or more with Herman would make this a lot easier since you'll be able to enter their house after 6 PM.

Herman likes Pineapple and Tomato Juice; none you can obtain in the 1st gen.
Come to think of it you're better off timing to enter the mansion at around 5 PM for this request, but the next quest and to get the proposal item you'll need to talk to Max in his room again; if you talk to him everyday you might get him to 3 by them.
Remember this is for convince so its optional to befriend Herman.
As I remember, you also have to have Rosalind at 10 LP before Max will offer you her proposal item and you need to trade him 9 tomatoes for it. Trading his sister for tomatoes >_> What a brother he is XD
Does anyone know some easier gifts for the kids in 2nd Gen? I know that Leanne likes pizza, Orland likes Taimen sashimi, etc. but are there easier to obtain/make gifts for them? I know Leonel loved the dumplings I gave him, but so far not so lucky experimenting with gifts for other people >_>
