If you go to Sun-Dappled Spot in Trieste Forest, you'll find it there. Cast your line in the bottom-left corner of the map - you'll hear a splash if you get the right spot. If it's for Herman's request, you can go ahead and catch it, but actually cooking it (since he wants a Fried L. Snapper) will take 60-something cooking skill. It's suggested you go for lunch everyday (Douglas gives you lunch from 12:00 - 1:59 PM at the workshop every weekday) because there's a chance you'll receive the Fried L. Snapper, though it's a low chance. Or, raise your cooking skill to like 70... but that may take awhile ._.

EDIT: He gives it to you but remember it's quite, quite rare.

haha, "shank ju" XD that almost sounds violent.

Anywho, there's a lot of information on fishing and hints (look in the extras section) already in the guide. So you might want to check it out on page 1 :)

I'm not in 2nd gen yet, I plan on seeing all the rival-weddings, get all 1st gen skills to 99 and fill out the shipping list as much as possible before I go on to 2nd gen.
I caught those Glitter Snapper in 1st gen in fall and I have caught like 20 of them so far, and lots of other fishes too from the pond. Even though I have only fished there for 2-3 weeks and only in the evenings when I had spare time. The Glitter Snapper isn't really that rare.

One thing that affects if you will catch much fish in there is the season, I first fished there in summer for a few weeks, but didn't catch anything, probably because in summer you can only catch Lobster there, which is a rare catch. In fall though I have caught catch Sardine, Mackerel, Snapper, Glitter Snapper, Salmon and Skipjack, so there is a much higher chance of catching fish in the pond in fall than in summer. I haven't fished there in winter and spring yet, but when I do I'll report it to you if you want.

Misti Rose wrote:**You can also use the shortcut function for much faster crop harvesting: press left shoulder button and use stylus to tap crops and highlight them orange.
i tend to be behind the times on things like this... but after finding out about this shortcut....wow... just wow :)

also...if you click on your tool (hoe, sickle, etc) down in the righthand corner, it'll change to a blue highlight. after that you can also hold down the L button and select spots on the field to use that tool :) it sorta works for the hammer (and i'll assume weapons too)...but it's not as effective.

anyways...love this guide, great job!

That'd be great. I left first Gen in Spring Year 2, so I got most or all of the "town" catches (which are seasonal). But I didn't spend time in the pond very much, so if you could collect that info for 1st Gen it would be awesome^^ Thanks for your help. I'll take away the * from the Glitter Snappper... it sounded so rare though =P

Just an interesting bit of information I discovered (you can put this in the Extras section if you want, Misti):
-The success formula for cooking, forging and pharmacy is...
100 - ((Recipe Level - Skill Level) * 9)

Of course if the skill level is equal to or higher than the recipe level, the success rate is 100%.

I just noticed...
You said it's easiest to catch sardines at Blessia Island - Dock? Uhm...it's actually easiest one room-thing in. In the sea water to the right, all I caught was sardines. At the dock, I caught more shrimp than anything else...

EDIT: HOLY SHIIIIT. I just caught a Lover Snapper in Alvarna - Pond, FIRST GEN. NOTE THIS. NOTE IT RIGHT NOW. (Caught in Spring of Year 1.) Oh, also got a Lamp Squid, so it's confirmed.

Um.... you can also find Sardines in Blessia Island - South Beach. The sardine I found was 18 cm, it was just what I needed for the Fishing Festival. So, if people are having trouble getting the right sized Sardine for the festival, then they should try out the area I just said.

Hope that helps. ^^

I'm pretty sure the sardine sizes and frequency are randomly generated, because i caught turbot and shrimp too in the "inner room" that Mizuru mentioned. So i guess it's all preference.. I just thought the dock would be the most convenient, since it's outside the actual dungeon and no monsters will be lagging up the screen.
*And charging up the rod is what affects size.

Also, Kupo, how did you manage to figure out that formula? O.o; ..XD very specific! Anyway, do you lose materials when you forge/cook and fail?

Hey!
I'm just letting you guys know that I now have a CRAPLOAD of free time to play RF2 (since my school classes are APs, the teachers give no homework, I've crammed all information into my skull and I don't have to worry about APs until April-May~).
So if you need any specific information, assign me to it! >:3

I wanna help contribute as much as possible, but I don't want to blurt out random info you might already have.

Just so this isn't a wasted post (sorta), there is a higher chance of getting garbage in Alvarna - Pond in 1st gen. About 4 garbage per fish.
