1. Can someone explain to me how the dungeon system works? I have no idea what I am supposed to do or how I am supposed to find out the requirements for the altars or whatever they are. Whenever I walk up to one, it just says, "I wonder what this is?" or something along those lines.
2. Buffamoos. I tamed four of them and now they are all sitting in the barn. When I try to milk them, nothing happens, even though there is plenty of feed in there (and it's effing expensive!). It's already been a couple in-game days - do I need to wait longer? Or am I just doing something wrong?
That said, the prices in this game seem really ridiculously expensive. Dx

In first generation, you can't do anything in the dungeons but fight monsters. In the second generation is where you do alot of stuff. You know those statues? Where Kyle says, I wonder what this is? You cant do anything in first gen but you can in the second. You will need stuff to make those disappear. Like for the first one, I dont remember but I think it is 9 pink turnips or something. Or 3..? o-O After those break, you will recieve a tablet.

They dont have milk everyday. You have to wait like 3-4 days for it to have milk. (dont remember how many days o_o) You check if they have milk by the sign infront of your monster hut. Use the monster glove to raise the FP higher so you can get larger milk. Same goes for other animals.

1) The statues and fences are unpassable until the 2nd gen. So, ignore them. Yeah, you'll only be able to go like...four areas into the dungeon, but you're NOT supposed to/not able to beat the game right now. In 1st gen, when you play as Kyle, your main goal is to get married. Use the dungeons to level up and prepare for the 2nd gen, such as getting monsters, earning money from cash crops, etc. Once you're married and have a kid and build the school, then you'll figure it out.
2) Oh, the Buffamoo. XD I believe you need to wait three days? Also do some quests. People of the De-Saint Jocqoihoauhwhatnot house (the rich family) are the ones who give you the animal items (milker, brush, clippers, basket). You're going to want that brush. Brush them everyday and their FP will go up at least 1 point a week, if not 2. As for fodder, it'll be in your best interest to by the grass seeds, it really is. They cost about...400g per bag? You get nine squares out that, and it regrows. Each square, when ready for harvest, gives you 4 fodder. I planted this in my field in 1st gen, about a row and a half full, maybe a whole two rows...? Plant across, btw. Once you start harvesting that, never need to buy more. When I jumped to gen 2, I had over 6k fodder. =D And 15 animals as soon as possible.
It seems EXTREMELY expensive in the beginning, but money is surprisingly easy to come by. Firstly, the rich family requests give you big cash, in the tens of thousands area. I also suggest planting cash crops in dungeons. For instance, strawberries in spring. Harvest every other day. Pineapple, though they take a while, for the summer, and I liked the yams for the fall. It's up to you, I went based on how much they sell for, if they regrow, and how long they grow for. After you get the quests rolling and completed along with some animals in your barn, crops in the dungeons and whatnot, you'll be fine. Was able to jump over to gen2 with over 1k wood and over 400k+ gold.

1. Well, there isn't really a system for the first half of the game. I won't spoil anything, but once you get married things will change and you'll be able to access more of the dungeons and the real story will kick off. For now you can't explore past the statues or fences.NinjasRockYourFace wrote:1. Can someone explain to me how the dungeon system works? 2. Hmm... well, it usually takes them 3 days to bear milk... I can't think of any other explanation except to keep waiting. As for feed - definitely buy grass seed and plant it on your farm NOW. One grass crop gives you 36 feed (cut it with your sickle and it will automatically go in your barn) and they regrow every 3 days! My barn has like 900 feed now - which will never get used... XD

Hmm... well, it isn't as long as you think. There are lots of quests to do, and as long as you don't waste time you can easily get married and into second generation by the end of Summer Year 1.NinjasRockYourFace wrote:Whaaaat. D: That's dumb. So, if the little milker icon next to the name is colored, that means that I can milk the buffamoo? I planted some grass, so I just have to wait for it to grow.
Thanks!
Yup, that's correct.
This is true for other monsters too.NinjasRockYourFace wrote: So, if the little milker icon next to the name is colored, that means that I can milk the buffamoo?
Like the sheep *can't remember name* and the cluckadoo...thingers.
If they have the icon next to their name colored then you can collect the bounty from them. C:

I was able to get married (to Mana) around mid-Summer. However, I wanted to do all the quests for the girls, so I didn't marry till the 27th. by that time though I was feeling like the most evil and cruel human because I'd gotten all these girls to like me and I just crushed their feelings. They were all so sad, but I found Dorothy the hardest not to marry, but I felt like Mana made a better mother. Once I was married I finished summer and then hibernated. o-oNinjasRockYourFace wrote:Whaaaat. D: That's dumb. I want to do stuff in the first generation. It's going to take forever to get married.

Besides, gifts do work to get them all up high enough. And with the time it takes to get them to 10 FP/LP, you'll be able to level up, grow crops/earn money, get animals, and raise your skills. All of that carries over. Also do some searches on the board to find stuff about what's best to go into gen 2 and you can use your time wisely by leveling up these skills, finding the items you'll want, so on so forth.
Yeah, just raise everyone's FP. The bachelorette's quests go all the way up to 10 FP/LP (they're like heart events) whereas most of the other people's quests only go up to about 4-6 FP/LP, depending on the person.
It is a looooong prologue, but so worth it!

Doing Cecilia's second request will give you the brush.
There's info about quests here if you need help with that. c:
It should be easy to find.
