I was wondering if any of you guys and gals had any kind of system when naming your monsters....this might seem silly but i name my monsters through this system..

Buffamoos (the cows): named them after the zodiac signs. (ex. Libra, Ares)

Cluckadoodle (the chickens): named them after angels. (ex. uriel, arael)

Woollys (the sheep): named them after constellations or stars (ex. Vega, Orion)

Queen Bees/Hornets: named them after famous people, but mostly philosophers since i just finished taking philosophy in the fall. (ex. Hegel, Einstein)

Other monsters: named them after gods from different cultures. (ex. shiva (indian), zeus (greek), thor (norse), horus (egyptian), and amate (after the Japanese « Harvest Goddess » amaterasu).

looking back i think that i should've named the cluckadoodles (the chickens) after the good angels, and i should've named the hornets/queen bees after the evil or fallen angels. this is because i consider the cluckadoodles good and peaceful because they don't even attack you when you try to capture them, but if you try to capture the hornet/queen bees they sting you which can cause PARALYSIS and POISON!! OUCH!! that's just evil..

thanks again for all the responses

That really is interesting.. Hmm.. Maybe I should have a system :p
I usually just name it the first thing that comes to my mind which can differ based on how badly they annoy me =] haha Some of my monsters have some unfortunate names ;p
Their own fault for being such a pain to catch :bunny:

I do in other games (chickens named after characters from Sailor Moon [Usagi, Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako in most games and Ceres, Pallas, and Juno in IoH; I still need to get a Vesta], my horse and dog named after characters from Kino no Tabi [my horse is named Hermes and my dog is Riku], my cows are either named after the heroines from magical girl anime and manga or in the past I've named them after video game girls [Peach, Samus, Zelda, etc.], pink haired anime, manga, or video game girls, or in 64 after the game's bachelorettes [actually, that might have been my chickens], I don't think I've had a set system for sheep, at least not one I can remember), but I don't really in RF2. It's rediculous how they only give you 5 letters for naming your monsters! It leaves me with no space for creative names. I was going to name one of my Woolies Static and the other one Cling, but there wasn't enough room for me to put Static.

The names Mad Cow and Hamburger (for Buffamoos) and Blackbeard (for a Goblin Pirate) have proved to be similarly impossible.

I name them in similar patterns.

Gorra
Turre
Sarru
Forri
etc. ^.^

They have the double r and are the same length always. ;)

For some reason whenever I name monsters/animals in these games, the majority end up with 'phi' at the end of their names.

Ex.
Ophi
Alphi
blahhhh.

It's weird. I have no idea why. It started when I named my goat in ToT Ophi and I use it a lot now.
o__o
I usually name my favorite animal 'Valo' though. Because it's the bestestttt.

I name my monsters after characters from movies ,tv shows and books. Seemed like an easy system.

For example, Xavier (X-men), Pongo (101 Dalmatians), Gimli (Lord of the Rings) etc

^That's what I used to do in RF1, but I'd start losing track.

In almost all HM games I do the exact same system. I start at the top of the alphabet and go down. So, Buffamoos are Abe, Bess, Chris, and Dale. Woolies are Ana, Bino, Curly, and Dorie. Cuckadoos are Ash, Betty, Catt, and Duel. Here's where I messed up. XD I named my silver wolf Abe, cause I thought I didn't have one, but I did, but it's okay. And then for some reason I skipped "B" and named my two goblin pirates (water) Cain and Dean.

I don't know if I want more produce monsters. :/ I'll get the honey ones, but the barn is so laggy it's annoying to get the products from the animals. I go in there mostly to pick up my wolf, Abe.

But it works well for me though, cause then they get nice names and it's in order. I get to see which one I got first and so on forth, which is helpful, especially in other HM games where the cow takes a while to give milk, I was just able to see which one is ready to give me milk without having to do Cow1, Cow2, Cow3...

I remember in the GBA game, I used to name my cows stuff like Bessy or Betsy, or some cowish-farmish name. I used to name my chickens Cluck, Click, Clucky, Clicky, Clack, Clacky, etc until I ran out of chickens or names.

Then, I started to name my cows 'Shep, shap, ship, shup, sheep, sheap, sheip, sheup' etc. and my sheep, 'cow, cuw, cew, caw,' etc.

Lately, on my Runefactory games (1 and 2) I've just named them random names, or their species' name... that is until we had a 5 letter limit! Grr... :shifty:

I like your way better, though! I think I might use that way, if it's alright with you! :)

Yeah, I think I've already started losing track... Usually I have to go on a website to get ideas. For RF1 I think I named them all after colours, which gets a bit boring and strange. A cow named Indigo? Makes no sense to me anymore.
